Renegade

Renegade, being a send up of the roguish character (primarily inspired by Flashman and Ciaphas Cain in particular) is very much an anti-hero; he is, in spite of the archetypes associated with Equestria's royal guardsponies, a lazy, not particularly bright, and hedonistic coward (by his own admission) who more often than not finds himself in precarious situations that are more than he can handle. He is, at his very core, somepony who tries to survive a hoof-to-mouth existence in whatever adventure he goes on; he isn't above using his charm and skills in socializing in order to save his own skin.

Much like his literary inspirations, however, there are indications that he has a heart (and actual courage) beneath his unlikable exterior. The few friends he's been able to make in the short span of his career are proof of this. His only motivation is a quiet and solitary existence...too bad his cutie mark (he has no clue what it means, but his tendency to travel from place to place most likely has something to do with it) isn't going to see to that goal any time soon.
