Inkwell is a light grey earth pony with darker grey legs. His mane and tail is a light blue with darker blue (inky) streaks. Inkwell typically wears glasses, and has green eyes. Often times, he will wear his black plague Dr. outfit with a white mask that resembles a narrow beak, and a black wide brimmed hat with a single brow feather on the side of the hat.

Flint Inkwell prefers to study in his lab or conduct field research, rather than 'hang out' with others. He by no means shies away from others, but is often seen as awkward in social situations (most likely a result of his upbringing). His views are also somewhat controversial to most, but he is steadfast in his 'logical' and 'educated' opinions and judgments.

Inkwell is an earth pony born in Canterlot to a well known unicorn family. As an earth pony, it was often a difficult and stressful occasion to live up to his families expectations. with many sisters and brothers to take up the family profession as nobles' assistants, his parents never invested much in him and his interests or upbringing. This was due to a lack of a horn. This didn't mean his parents neglected Inkwell, but rather that compared to his other brothers and sisters, he was more or less put in the back of the line.
At a young age, Inkwell abandoned his family to avoid becoming the life-long assistant to a noble, which all Inks inevitably did. He took this opportunity to pursue his interest in in studying life and biology, and managed to attend the Canterlot Royal University, with nothing but his keen observational skills and excellent memory to gain him admission. Of course, his family in general, did not approve of his change in tradition.
Inkwell still loved his family of course, but he wanted them to be known for more than being noble's servants. He wanted them to have a legacy that all Inks could look to and aspire to, something that all ponies would remember them for, and that would help all ponykind long after he was gone. Inkwell wants his family to know they can do far greater things than they give themselves credit for.
Inkwell's life long dream is to create a lasting legacy for his entire family line. A legacy, that will help all ponykind so that the Inks will forever be remembered for their contribution to society, and that others down his family line will follow in his hoofsteps to better ponykind by a large margin.
