Highrise

Scion of Arcadia
  • , No, Not Cast Young Mare

Highrise is green pony with a yellow mane. To be more precise, her coat is a very light green close to the color of ferns and mint, far less bright than most other variants of green. Her mane is the color of hay straw and is normally done up in a ponytail in the back while the front is swept over her left ear, although two or three bangs usually manage to come over her face anyways, though it isn't enough to obscure her orange-brown eyes. Her tail isn't normally styled like her mane so it falls in multiple locks that converge to a curved point naturally. It also to be noted that she is a bit plump, having gained a soft and round middle from her profession as a baker. She also wears a pair of light blue saddlebags with golden clasps shaped like a bundle of wheat when she's not in Cloudsdale.

Highrise is a bit of an airhead. She often daydreams and sees things as much more grandiose than they really are. She's not needing some whipped cream because it will taste good on her latest creation, she needs it because the kingdom is in dire need of her and some emissary from far away lands will send armies after them if she doesn't get it this instant. This is all in her head, of course, and it really is only because some bite-sized creation would taste sweet with the addition of whipped cream. So as you can see, she's a fan of exaggerating things, which is a bit dissonant compared to her softspoken voice and often straight face, though this can be problematic if she blows a problem out of proportions and forgets that it's all in her head. And yes, it should be mentioned that she can be a bit forgetful at times. However, she has this grace to her within the kitchen. She normally carries a bit of bread on her, both to snack on and to let people sample as otherwise, ponies might not know of her humble bakery in Cloudsdale.

Highrise was born and raised in Cloudsdale. Her parents had high hopes for her, raising her up in hopes she would go out and hit it big in a big city like Fillydelphia or Manehattan. However, she never actually had an interest in doing any such thing. She soaked up the stories she was told about these places and fused it with her own vivid imagination, but she never actually had a desire to permanently leave Cloudsdale.

She got her Cutie Mark when she was helping her parents bake for the camp she was going off to learn to fly. It wasn't that big of a deal, not the grand affair like some ponies had or went through. She was eager to help her parents so they humoured her and showed her the recipe as well as how to make it. They had only intended to let her help, but to their surprise she was actually really competent at it and was soon making batches on her own. She actually got it after the 2nd batch but she was enjoying herself so much, not to mention busy still cooking, that she didn't realize she had it until she had baked enough for her entire group. She proudly told her friends all about it when she delivered the goods, with her usual dramatic flair of course.

She now owns her own bakery in Cloudsdale, The Luscious Crumb, which she operates by herself. However, she also has a taste for traveling and often closes her shop temporarily to take her bread on the road as a self-styled traveling salespony. However, she's always willing to help in local tasks and share tales of "grand" adventures.

This overall looks pretty good, but the personality section about Celestia made me do a bit of a double take. I would feel more comfortable if that were reworded.

Also, I would love to see a picture of your character.

Thanks!

Here I was getting upset because I thought my character hadn't been looked at. My apologies for getting all worked up over nothing. I've changed the wording of Celestia's part in the personalitt, omitting her in favor of a more amorphous threat. And I also fixed some spelling mistakes that escaped my attention last time through.

Eh heh heh. As much as I'd like to offer a picture to give you a good idea of what I'm imagining, alas, I cannot. I can barely gain access to computers as is (I'm currently using my phone) much less get Photoshop and use it. And I don't have ready access to a scanner either. Unless someone was willing to draw her for me or do commission, then she remains unseen save in the mind of the beholder.

Once again, sorry for the prolonged wait.
