Teal is the current color of her pelt, but that could change at any time, due to her passion for dye jobs. The mane and tail, both originally being a very dark blue, have been streaked with white, as to show off a wonderful addition of character to her appearance. Her eyes are yellow in color, and seem as if they glow with electricity, even though the true reason is just a sparkle in her eyes from loving daily life.

To sum up Sapphire's personality cannot simply be done by listing off traits. Though easygoing, she lacks the ability to easily get along with disheveled ponies, often feeling an overwhelming need to have them groomed by her hoof. With that, you could say she's a bit neurotic in a sense, especially when it comes to stress and irritability due to lack of style. Her charismatic nature has proven time and time again that her sense of color and style can inspire others to change their everyday styling to something different.

 

Generally, Sapphire Lightning is a laid back pony who is relatively easy to get along with, but her temper does get the better of her at times, and she regretfully cannot control it. She tries not to let anything bother her, but when it does, she tries to get away so as not to say or do anything she may regret. Herbal tea usually calms her down, but if it doesn’t, don’t get too close, unless of course, she can trust you!

 

Though her usual energetic nature may concede to a rather wicked temper every now and then, she's able to control herself rather well when it counts. Her confident nature allows her the strength to get out of bed every single day knowing she'll make somepony's day better. Above all though, the personality trait that sticks out like a sore thumb on Sapphire is her creativeness. It's like a switch in her mind when she sees something fantastic that she is tasked with.

Likes: Ponies who just don’t know when to stop, and of course, general harassment unless it’s jokingly. She can tell when it’s a joke, like any normal pony. Arrogance is also another thing that pushes her buttons, but she learns to deal with it, but as anypony, there’s always an extent. She also has a hard time looking at a poorly groomed pony without having the need to drag them to the salon to “freshen up” their current look.

In her earlier years as a foal, Sapphire Lightning was a rather energetic pony, always curious and wandering around. The messes she found herself in were quite interesting, but her knowledge grew, and as it grew, the more fascinated she became with the world around her. Her parents, especially her father, loved to teach her about the world, and how things worked, as it allowed her mind to grow, and her knowledge of not just the Pegasus city, Cloudsdale held, but also about how the Earth Ponies lived their life. They were fairly knowledgeable, due to their travels before they had Sapphire. Their travels took them all around Equestria, and had given them much information to pass down to their little foal, Sapphire.

 

At a young age, Sapphire Lightning became absolutely entranced by gemstones, but not just any gemstone. She loved the sapphire the most. Some say it’s because of her name, but others say it’s because she can see the beauty in the color and cut of each different sapphire. Even though her love for sapphires was a small part of her, all the other ponies found traits of Sapphire to like her about. Her kindness was a big part of her people couldn't help but love. She would help the smaller ponies with problems wherever she could, and she even helped clean them up if they had gotten dirty. She was always close to her friends, but as all friends, they always ended up getting into different things, and would eventually grow apart.

 

In school, Sapphire Lightning had quite the thirst for knowledge. She couldn't get enough of learning, but she found that after so much learning, she needed something new, and she couldn't just keep on hitting the books when she had gotten home every night. She didn't want to be the brainiac, because it wasn't her thing. She wanted to be smart enough to get an occupation she felt strongly for, and that was all she felt she needed. She still went and did her schooling to the best of her abilities, but that's just the way she thought she had to be.

 

There really wasn’t too much Sapphire Lightning wanted in life, but she realized she had a passion, and talent for styling, and coloring hair and manes. She could take anypony’s mane or tail, and with some imagination, make it look absolutely beautiful. Of course, with that, she was able to find a job as an apprentice stylist in a salon.
That actually brings us to the story of how Sapphire Lightning had gotten her cutie mark. Being an exceptionally nice day in Cloudsdale, she was one of those ponies who couldn’t just sit around for too long without keeping her hooves busy. She realized she had been wearing the same style on her mane for far too long, while she seen other ponies going in and out of salons sometimes every other week or so with new styles. She decided to experiment with her own mane. So she decided to fly back home, and see what she could come up with.

 

After an hour or so of looking endlessly in the mirror at her mane, she just couldn’t help but notice that the dark blue was just too much for her, and didn’t seem to show her true pony. So along with the style she decided to try, an offset wave in her mane, she had figured she may as well try her hoof at dying her mane as well, because what could she lose?

 

When she finally finished, after hours of work, studying style and dying books, and experimentation on herself, she finally looked in the mirror for the final time and was absolutely astonished. She had a beautiful style in her mane, and the white stripe in her mane offset the dark blue perfectly, and made the style look that much better. As she was doing a quick spin to see how it looked from other angles, she noticed something on her flank. It was her cutie mark, and it had finally shown up! She loved how it was a brush, and there was a white dye blob on the handle, symbolizing her talent for styling, and dying hair and manes. It was a very happy day for Sapphire Lightning, indeed!

 

She found that her favorite past time though, was aerial tricks. She is graceful, and her special trick though, was that she could create the image of a sapphire in the sky. It gave her an edge, but with just that, she could never rival the best flyers in Cloudsdale. She never wanted to be an expert flyer though, so she did it only in her spare time when she felt the need to fly, as her true love, and talent, lies with styling and dying, but you know generally what that story is.

 

This brings us rather close to the current time of Sapphire, so the history is summed up. Of course, the history, is only history because it had been done already, but Sapphire’s future, looks to be bright, and full of learning and opportunity. Currently, she took up residence in the little town of Ponyville, traveling back and forth to Manehattan and Cloudsdale as needed for her regular customers. She settled down in a small house on the edge of town looking out towards Canterlot. She dreams of one day owning a salon in the beautiful capitol, but is quite happy with her current residence. She lives alone, though her parents do tend to visit every so often. Only time will tell what happens in the future for Sapph, now.

Physique: Athletic, but slender. She has her fair share of strength but doesn’t overdo herself due to her slender image.

 

Nicknames: Sapph, Sapphy, Sapphire

 

Origin: Cloudsdale of course. Where else could a Pegasus learn her flying skills?

 

Occupation: Apprentice Hair Stylist

 

Motivation: To inspire and enlighten people with new hair and mane styles for their mane and tail, but also tattoo-like dye jobs!
