Steel Vaults

95% Chance
  • No Not Cast Adult

Steel Vaults is workhorse-esque in stature, sharing the same muscular, Earth Pony build as his brother. He sports an Indigo coat and wine red mane/tail, both of which he keeps groomed to the best of his ability, though it's not without some errant messiness that runs in his family. His eyes are a piercing green color, complementing his coat perfectly. Like most stallions of his stature, he sports fetlocks along his hooves. He is never seen without wearing any formal attire, his favorite of which is a white dress shirt and black vest, with a red tie to accentuate the outfit.

In stark contrast to his brother, Anchors Aweigh, Steel Vaults is outspoken, cocky, and suave, as well as deceptive and honestly downright manipulative at times. He's a shrewd businesspony and incredibly imposing, most times forcing competition away through sheer intimidation alone. He's a pony that feels right at home in the attention of others, and his subtle narcissistic, self-centered tendencies reflect that. However, this is not to say that he is a "bad" pony. He's simply brash and pragmatic, and incredibly passionate about most things pertaining to himself, as well as other ponies. He is quick to take a liking to somepony else that he believes to be non-threatening to his status and general standing, and anyone that he sees as equal, he seeks to assert some form of dominance over them in some way, somehow. As said before, Steel is far from a bad pony, and when he forms a bond with somepony, it's there to stay. He values strong friendships almost as much as he does material wealth, and is happy to spend that wealth on others just as much as he is on himself. Steel Vaults is also outgoing, especially at night, as he holds the nightlife in extremely high regard. He finds the bright lights and stars at night particularly beautiful, and as such, could probably be considered a nocturnal creature by classification.
As amazing and handsome as Steel Vaults is, the drawbacks aren't nonexistant. He consistently has proven to get in over his head thinking that he has something under control. Steel also finds it hard to admit defeat in any situation, business or otherwise, though isn't a sore loser by any means.

In a nutshell, Steel Vaults is a nightlife-loving, determined and passionate businesspony. His cockyness and flirtatious nature consistently get him into trouble, but he's more than capable of getting himself out of said situations. While somewhat abrasive, he's not without a softer side, and wants nothing more than to eke out a more than comfortable living for himself and any future family he ends up with.

Steel Vaults was born in the small coastal town of Horseshoe Bay to a loving mother and father, along with his brother, Anchors Aweigh. While his brother was consistently out at sea with their father, Steel was more of a homebody, and was happy to help out his mother around the house. But he would always wait outside for his father and brother to come home to ask about their escapades. And while it may not be the case today, the two brothers used to be inseparable for the most part, and enjoyed the time that they spent together. While Anchors and their father were at sea, Steel would pick up on skills necessary for maintaining a home, and as such, learn to be self-sustaining, learning how to cook, clean, repair the house when needed, etc.

Just like his brother he would begin to grow alarmingly fast, taking after his father in more ways than one as he transitioned into adolescence. Unlike his brother however, he didn't quite fancy the rugged sailor look, and opted for something clean shaven and proper. In further contrast, Steel, having not been exposed to the sea fever like his brother had been, never developed the intense passion for it, and instead devoted most of his time to his education, which his mother certainly appreciated! Steel was an extremely studious pony, and strove to outdo himself in all things, and his teachers came to know him as a dedicated overachiever in all subjects. Of course, Steel had the time for such things, and had very few, if any hobbies that occupied his time. Any time not spent helping his mother was spent studying or doing homework, or being involved in the numerous clubs at his school.

It was, for Steel Vaults, a perfect life. One that he had grown to love.

Which was why the news of his father's untimely demise came as such a shattering blow to him. Upon returning home from school one day he would find both his distraught mother crying at the dinner table and his brother down at the shore salvaging what was left of their father's ship. Steel could only wonder why something like this would happen to a good pony like his father. And while his thoughts were a maelstrom, there was one constant that began to pop up in each one: Anchors seemed to be obsessed with that damned ship. Every day he would be out there scavenging without a word, never stopping to care for their mother in such a time like this. It was a slow boil of resentment that was slowly welling up inside the stallion every time he saw him down there at shore. He was building another ship, and it made his blood boil.

How? How could Anchors be so selfish at a time like this following their father's death? Not even caring for what their mother was going through? It made him sick, though he said nothing. He couldn't bring in more turmoil into their already shaken homestead. So instead he simply bode his time, going to school, making plans for pursuing a higher education in banking and finance, until finally, upon returning home one day and seeing his brother's finished ship ready to set out into the ocean, he snapped. He would rush down to the pier before his brother could leave and confront him. They argued for minutes on end about the best course of action, how one or the other was too focused on themselves and not helping their mother, how this would affect her, what the state of affairs was between the two. In the end, there was no resolution. The two brothers were both right and wrong in many ways, but neither could admit this, let alone see it. That day, Anchors left without so much as a goodbye, leaving Steel to look after their childhood home alone.

And that he did, for as long as he could, until his own mother intervened on behalf of his own well-being by showing him acceptance letters that had piled up over the days that had gone by. It took a lot of convincing, but in the end, she was able to convince him that it was the right choice for him, and that she would be just fine in the house by herself. A few days later Steel would set out to pursue his own dream of higher education. It was there, away from home that he would come to embody the stallion that you see today. Uninhibited, he was free to enjoy many facets of life he'd ignored up until this point, at this point, one would be hard-pressed to find a better term to describe him other than "hedonist."

However, Steel was, and still is able to balance these with his educational pursuits. And whilst preserving his reputation as a partying, schmoozing pony in pursuit of the baser pleasures in life, was still able to consistently be the top student in all of his classes. He would leave the school enriched by the experiences there, and fully equipped to take on the world. He found his new home in the bourgeois city of Canterlot, as well as his business in an entry position as a bank teller, before usurping the owner through his manipulative, intelligent (and perhaps shady) business practices, becoming the new owner of an already prestigious company by force. Under his leadership, he would see it grow even further. And every night to this day, he takes off into the night to enjoy Luna's moon and bask in the radiant nightlife of Canterlot, Manehattan, and anywhere else a bustling city scene can be found.
