Allegory [Foe]
By Anneal
Age: 34
Gender: Female
Species: Unicorn
Appearance: 117 centimeters (3'10") tall, Allegory is a tad shorter than the regular pony; she has a light orange coat with a yellow mane and green eyes. Near the base of her mane and tail, however, are faint white stripes which she inherited from her (even shorter!) dad, and most of everything else from her mom.

The young mare is usually seen with desert-cameo light clothing, reinforced with metal plates on her hooves, and a trader hat and goggles. She also has a plasma pistol and a laser rifle on her, along with a poorly-kept combat knife.
Cutie Mark: A cluster of scrapbook art tied together as a bundle; while it's meaning is less than obvious, Allegory had always had a talent for noticing and collecting all sorts of things. It's not hoarding, (mind you,) as Allie would say. Either way, she has a collection of pre-war bits and likes to pick up "souvenirs" from each location.
Personality: A pony is determined by the first impressions of others; Allegory, though, often comes out as double-sided. She likes to build the image of an honest and virtuous head figure, but at the same time she has no hesitation to lie or sweeten her words to get what she wants. She would be the 'popular mare' if civilization was still standing.

She also jumps from mature to foal-ish on the drop of the hat — act like the badass with a filly's heart inside. This change is very evident when she's collecting things or reading comic books that she scavenges, and sometimes escalates into naivete as she somewhat lacks understanding of the outside world.

What isn't very double-sided though, is the fact that she places a price on literally everything. Drink of water? 5 caps. Repair your plasma rifle? 800 caps. Got your flanks saved? Better get your wallet ready. Allegory would probably bribe a few ponies if it meant that someone else could shut up.
Backstory: Born rather quietly in the town of Springfoal, east of New Appleoosa, Allegory was raised as a fairly typical filly in a completely atypical family; her mom was an ex-slaver, her dad was an ex-slave, and her adopted older brother was a little bit of both. But one thing that was the same in all of them was that they wanted to escape their old slavery-related lives. Her mom hardly, if ever, talked about her dealings back in the North, and her dad infrequently mentioned his lucky escape from a slave caravan bound for the inescapable Fillydelphia. And her brother often evaded mentioning his old, abusive family. All of them, except for her earth pony brother, were unicorns.

So Allegory was probably the sanest of them all, all things considering, though her family did give her a fairly comfortable life away from harm. (Admittedly, her mom wanted Allegory to be male to evade the sexual assault that generally awaited unfortunate mares.) Her mom usually went out "hunting", and her dad (humorously the shortest of the whole family) was usually working in the clinic.

When she was ten, her mom gave the filly her passed-down silenced 10mm pistol to train Allegory to defend herself. The orange filly didn't like the gun, though; she didn't have very strong magic and couldn't use the pistol effectively. Her parents forced her to use it anyway, believing she just needed to gain experience in the weapon.

It didn't help Allegory, so she decided to do the next best thing, which was to sneak out while she was outside "training" and secretly going toward the general store. There, she noticed something hanging on the back wall. "What's that?" she asked. "That, little filly, is an energy weapon. It's recoil-less, shoots magic bolts, and it melts things faster than your oven."

She didn't exactly get all of that, but she traded in the 10mm for a plasma pistol. Obviously her mom gave her the scolding of her life, but it was probably worth it in the end.

A year later, Allegory had, one faithful day, trotted out to do some short-range scavenging, with a small booklet in her hooves. Allie wanted to find something hardly any scavengers ever took: pre-war money. And as fate would had it, when she trotted into an abandoned preschool, she found a pure golden bit, shining right below the tables, and sliding in, picked it right up. Suddenly her flank started to glow, and the filly stared back widely in shock. She had finally acquired her cutie mark!

Her parents were rather surprised of the filly, being the first of the family to use energy weapons, but they didn't bother trying to sway her. And so it stayed that way for nearly ten years.

When Allegory was twenty-one, she decided to leave the comfort of her town and family to wander the wastes and stake a claim for herself. Leaving with a wave and a smile, the young mare left off for Manehatten, and had explored many places within the last six months. She would admit that the journey wasn't as adventurous as she thought it would be...but it brought her a new perspective in life.

She worked as a spotter for some towns before eventually meeting up with another pegasus stallion, Star Blaze. After a few encounters they had decided to work together more frequently, and with increasing frequency an unexpected relationship brewed between the two. They ended up falling in love and almost three years later, Allie had become a mother of a foal, and then another two years after that – considering the general risk of raising a family in the wastes, it wasn't easy to balance both of her "occupations".

Eventually the family had moved to Fort Post, a larger ex-military fort and camp built during the pre-war. She currently works as a temporary guard for various cities.
