• Blue Bird

    SkyPie

    • Age: 18

      Gender: Female

Species: Other Pony (Crystal, Bat, etc.)

      Appearance:
One thing to note is that Thunder Bird has the gem shaped shine to her eyes that she inherited from her Crystal pony father, but she has a non sparkling coat from her Equestrian mother.

      Cutie Mark:
Blue Bird's cutie mark is the silhouette of two white swans pressed together and creating the heart shape, close enough that their chests are touching.

      Personality:
Shy- That is the most notable trait about this pony. She frequently looks down when speaking with someone she is not completely comfortable with, and she doesn't even like doing that. She would prefer running off before she could make a mistake and look like a fool.

Sensitive- Words get easily to Blue Bird, even when they have good intent. When Blue Bird makes the smallest mistake, or gets any sort of negativity her way, or even someone trying to gently point out what she did wrong, her stomach starts to hurt and she gets a lump in her throat like what happened was worse than it actually was, as well as remembering it for days afterward. So imagine her actually getting hurtful words thrown her way, when she already reacts badly to such trivial things.

Antisocial- Blue Bird would rather curl up in a peaceful, comfortable area with books to read and an animal to snuggle than go out and play with friends. Ponies her age have tried to befriend her in the past, but not knowing what to say and being fearful of what they would think of her, Blue Bird would react as she always did, shuffling her hooves and not responding, so the ponies eventually gave up.

Sympathetic- Blue Bird had her fair share of those she didn't like, and at their most unlikable peak, she would wish ill will on them, but then quickly change her mind when she couldn't help but imagine not wanting those things to happen to her. For example, she would probably help someone who had been her foalhood bully out of a deep ravine without hesitation if a situation ever arose, even if they were insulting her the whole way. Blue Bird wouldn't think of how much they would have deserved it, just that there was somepony in danger, and that they were cold and maybe hurt. It makes Blue Bird almost feel like she shared the pain and emotion herself when she thinks of it.

Cowardly- While Blue Bird would try to save someone if they were in trouble, if it endangered her own life, her fear would override her urge to help. She absolutely hates this part of herself, but no matter how hard she tries, she can't will herself to potentially sacrifice her life.

      Backstory:
Blue Bird had a fairly normal foalhood in Vanhoover. She was born in the Crystal Empire but her family moved in with her grandmother not long after her father passed on from an unknown illness a little while before her birth. Blue Bird had a love of flight instilled in her from her now deceased pegasus grandmother because the mare used to take her grandfoals out for flights on her back when she had the strength to do so. This made Blue Bird wish she had been born a pegasus, so she could take to the skies whenever she wanted.

One of her neighbors, an elderly unicorn mare named Flaming Aurora, was a cranky pony that for some reason had a soft spot for Blue. Earlier in their relationship, when Blue was eleven, Flame had treated her like everyone else, but Blue still was polite and asked if she needed help. (Even though she was still scared of Flame's tone.) Flame allowed her to visit and help her out with things that were difficult for an elder to do alone. Eventually, just after Blue's twelfth birthday, Blue had built enough trust with Flame that the unicorn revealed the secrets of her cloak, a white one covered with swan feathers, that she wore all the time. Flame explained that the cloak made her a swan maiden, a rare creature that can shift from their original form to that of a swan as long as they wear a garment covered in swan feathers. Such strong shape shifting magic was almost impossible to create, which is why there were only three magical swan feathered objects that the unicorn creator was able to make. It is unknown where the others are. Flame received her cloak from her mother, so she could keep it safe and out of evil creatures' grasps when the original owner passes on. They could milk the powerful magic out of the cloak and use it for their own selfish desires. Blue asked why such a powerful unicorn would create the ability to turn into a swan when they could do many other things, and Flame guesses maybe those were the unicorn's favorite animals and they wanted to experience being them, as well as share this power with others. Flame continued with saying that she will pass the swan cloak onto Blue, because Flame had no foals and her relatives were horrible and unworthy, but the blue foal must not tell anyone. Even if they were the most trustworthy pony in the world, someone else could use them to get to the special information they have. Blue was in awe of being in on this secret, and excited that she will turn into a animal. Over the next year, Flame taught Blue how to properly use the cloak. Once Blue was an expert at it, she received her cutie mark. A while after that, when Blue went to visit Flame, but there was no answer when Blue knocked on the door. Assuming she was sleeping in or something, Blue left and returned the next day, but Flame still didn't answer the door. Concerned now, Blue told her mother, who in turn alerted the authorities because they could search others' houses with a warrant. They informed that Flame had passed away in her sleep. Blue, devastated, grieved for a long while. Flame was like a second grandmother to her after her biological one had died. As expected, Blue was given the swan cloak as dictated in Flame's will. Blue's mother, who just thought the cloak was a treasured gift from a deceased loved one, got her daughter a safe when asked, so Blue could put the cloak in when she bathed and sometimes slept. Otherwise, Blue wore the cloak all the time, in fear that evil creatures will steal it and do something terrible with it and it would be all her fault.
