Cosmos (Aka. Bones)
By Mephala
Age: ~25
Gender: Female
Species: Earth Pony
Appearance: Cosmos is fairly simple looking, with a neat dark brown mane and tail and a creamy brown body. A large pale brown splotch covers her left eye, and five black dots are tattooed under each. Her eyes are pale green. She always wears a leatherette necklace with feathers and the tooth of a dragon on it.

Cosmos once had wings - however, she no longer does due to a fight she once had, and as a result there is just two long scars where they used to be.

She never goes anywhere without her weapons. When she takes the alias Bones she wears a small dragon skull to hid her face as well as a plan black body suit.
Cutie Mark: Cosmos has a cutie mark shaped like the horn of a bison with a yellow five-pointed star on the tip, to represent her affinity with the creatures and her imagination and storytelling skills. The horn is crossed with a sword with a bone handle to represent her fierce loyalty and protection for those she loves as well as her fighting skills.
Personality: Cosmos grew up around bison, who are very traditional and stoic. These traits were ingrained into her, but she is also fiercely protective of those she loves. She grew up sharing her possessions and does not understand the pony culture concept of ownership, so she often will take what is not hers mistakingly. Sometimes she's too quick to act and doesn't think over what is going on, often using her over-active imagination to turn scenarios around into dangerous ones when the intentions were innocent.

She is good at storytelling, often using stars and the universe as the basis, and she earned the respect of the children in her tribe for that, even though after her fight with a dragon she was greatly disfigured for a while.

However, she is slow to trust, and unless she can instantly identify you as an ally you're probably dead.
Backstory: Cosmos was born as Oaken Leaf to a pair of poor settlers trying to settle into desert life. It was a treacherous land to bring up a family in, but moving south to harvest the resources was all the rage. Her parents had met one night at the bar in Appleloosa when moving through town, both with their families, and the two soon decided to get married; they were getting on in years and both wanted a child. So, on a hot summer day, Desert Rose and Rich Resource were married, and nine months later came Leaf.

However, the settlers were not gracious to the land around them, and they often took advantage of the resources presented to them. This angered a local tribe of buffalo who warned them, but the settlers continued to sully their new desert home. The last straw came when a young buffalo was killed by a weak structure that collapsed on them while they played inside. Though the settlers tried to explain it was an accident, the buffaloes had had all their land stripped from them as well as their resources stolen and flattened the town. As revenge for their murdered child, they kidnapped Leaf, not wanting to murder. Instead, they raised her as one of their own, far away from her family.

Leaf was re-named Brown Hooves (because the buffaloes are totally original, LOL). She was never informed of her past and assumed that she had always been with the buffalo, and her pegasus abilities allowed her to reach food in high places that the buffalo could not, and she was able to control the weather, bringing rain to make the land more fertile. With their newfound addition, all the buffalo tribes thrived, and the desert became prosperous for them. They were able to successfully raid settler villages and eventually managed to reclaim their land. Brown was dearly loved and raised.

This dissatisfied the settlers, and eventually they pushed Celestia to take action. When Twilight Sparkle moved the dragon, it was instructed to go to the desert, where it terrorized the population, eating buffalo and destroying their homes. The buffalo were forced to return to their nomadic ways, but the dragon relentlessly pursued them until they realized that something had to be done. They organized a war party to slay the beast, and though Brown was still young she insisted upon helping her people.

The dragon killed most of the buffalo, but thanks to her wings Brown was able to fight from above. However, she was seriously wounded when the dragon burned her with fire, though she was able to slay it using her spear. She managed to take a tooth as a memento of her battle, before she slipped into unconsciousness.

How she survived, the buffalo don’t really know; they seem to believe that the stars, which, like ponies, they worship, aided in her survival, though the burns infected her wings and they had to be amputated. She was taken to a pony hospital (rare for the buffalo to do due to their inherent dislike) and remained there for near a year. She was in a coma for near five months before she woke up, and after that was in rehabilitation for several months. She refused to allow them to treat her scars and burns with magic to heal them, mistrustful of them, and eventually was admitted out of the hospital, promising to rest until they healed.

Though many of the young buffalo were afraid of her, she was very well-respected for getting rid of the dragon, and she spent her years telling stories about the stars and the universe. Soon they began to look past her burns and began to refer to her as Athro, meaning teacher.

As much as she loved her people and their new peaceful lives, Brown wanted more in her life than sitting around a fire and doing boring, small housecleaning duties. The raids and fights had given her a taste for adventure, and now that her burns were almost gone she decided it was time to start a new life as a dangerous game hunter - and to find out who she was.

Bidding farewell to her family was difficult, but she would come back someday. Taking with her only her dragon tooth necklace and her weapons, she left. Before she could go, she went through an honourary ceremony where she took her final name: Cosmos. Her final name, or so she thought.

A few years later, with a few more trophies on her person, Brown returned to find that her village had been destroyed by ponies. Swearing vengeance against the ones that had done this to her people, she used the bones of her enemies to fashion her new weapons and set out on her quest.

Rumours of a fierce pony, one with no mercy, began to circulate, and soon Cosmos’ enigma was born – Bones. She now roams the world of Equestria, alone, taking her personal vendetta out upon all creatures. If Bones has her way, then one day the world will be smoldering...
