Appearance: Cutaway has leafy green eyes with a gray coat, and a bluish-gray mane and tail with purple streaks, curling and curving outward and inward like spikes. His mane length is moderate, appearing a bit androgynous. Cutaway lacks some bodily power, and is above average in height compared to most stallions around his age.

Cutie Mark: A newspaper sheet with a large headline that says "NEWS" on it, with several illegible lines below, suggesting his innate talent for journalist and news reporting.

Personality: An eccentric pony with a lot of energy, Cutaway often leaves sentences unfinished and goes off topic. He can be flexible and patient, and usually has a simple trustworthiness with other ponies that can sometimes make him a pushover. <br /><br />Cutaway can be what's called a "flower's boy", being a bit soft and romantic as times, which results in him usually mingling with mares over stallions. His status as an unmarried stallion could be a reason for this.<br /><br />His interest is obviously in writing, reporting, journalism, and sometimes a bit of economic and political science. Cutaway can interrupt and say whatever he wants to, as long as it is his interest, he could talk non-stop, almost always forgetting to shut up when he is supposed to. <br /><br />Strangely enough, Cutaway is scared of "dirt animals", cowering and stepping back nervously if he sees one. When he isn't working (he doesn't perceive it as such, quoting: "It isn't work if you enjoy it"), he goes for a fly outside, listens to classical music, and machinery.

Backstory: Cutaway was born into a middle class family of relative calmness and nothing much of interest, in a suburban zone due east of Cloudsdale. Technically living in a city, Cutaway was exposed to modernized technology, industry, and inventions of his time. His family could be considered intellectuals of their generation, his parents being civil case attorney and a doctor, respectively.<br /><br />Cutaway, at a young age, was quickly involved in the writing press of his school, interested in writing real time events to other ponies. He quickly learned how to use a movable printing press, the smaller type writer, and use a complex camera. <br /><br />He gained his cutie mark when he had tried hard enough to gain a half-time volunteer work after school for the municipal area press, and had to print one himself by the next week. It was of no problem to Cutaway, and as he successfully passed their examinations, he gained his cutie mark at the same time.<br /><br />As he grew up, Cutaway had worked up to an internship then an occupation as eventually an editor and journalist. In school, he had fairly good grades, admitting that he thought it was "easy", despite in a few cases simply not turning in assignments and getting on teachers' nerves.<br /><br />Now having a good occupation and comfortable life, Cutaway lives by himself in Canterlot, living as a "middle-class resident", a status which have been frowned upon by some of the upper class, as ponies who had gained their fortune from the entrepreneur or business life. Despite these divisions, Cutaway experiences little disorder.
