Personality: NOTE: In most RP's, Encore is Descant's stage name. He likes to try keep his personal and public lives separate.<br /><br />Descant tries very hard to fit in with the lofty, aristocratic crowd typically found in Canterlot, despite his origins. <br /><br />At times, he can be awkward. And due to annoying personality traits, he doesn’t have many friends, but those ponies that he likes and knows he can trust he is extremely loyal to.<br /><br />He’s prideful and stubborn. He’s got a rather lofty opinion of himself, and it takes quite some effort to convince him that he’s wrong, or to change his mind. Of course, it never hurts to offer a little incentive…<br /><br />Tends to overestimate himself and his abilities, and make rash decisions. He’s rather bigheaded, and an egotist. He loves to hear praise for himself and his works.<br /><br />He doesn’t usually take insults well, and is incredibly subtle about the grudges he holds. He likes to work behind the scenes, enact his revenge subtly without ever tying it to him.<br /><br />He’s incredibly talented artistically, and loves receiving attention. Well, only positive attention that will boost his ego.<br /><br />A lot of the time, he lets his frustrations bottle up, and lets them all loose at once, unfortunately for the pony that he's with.<br /><br />He gets absorbed with his work, and when he's devoted himself to a task, it's hard to drag him away from it.<br /><br />He has a tendency to be nosy, and unfortunately has the skills to find out things he shouldn't. He's always in the know about just about anything. Thankfully, though, he doesn't have the habit of giving away other ponies' secrets. For free, anyways...<br /><br />He’s not always the most honest pony, by methods or in words. He’s not afraid to get his hooves dirty to achieve his ends.<br /><br />Despite his mostly prideful nature, he is rather ashamed of his origins, and of his family's rejection. He rarely talks about this past of his if he can help it.<br /><br />He's rather clumsy, and doesn’t forgive easily.<br />Descant is multilingual, a result of his travels abroad. Which languages he can speak usually varies from roleplay to roleplay, as does where he did study.<br /><br />Despite his personality flaws, if a pony were to worm their way past his facade of vanity, he's one of the truest and loyalest friends one could fine.

Backstory: Encore was born and raised for the first part of his life in Baltimare. He was born into a middle class family, with a father as a member of the Royal Guard, and had two older brothers, both of whom were athletic. His parents expected him to follow in his brothers' hoofsteps, but Encore was never particularly interested in pursuing the path his parents wanted him to. When moving on to High School, Encore started casting out for other pursuits, without his family knowing. One day, starting to get frustrated that he hadn't found his purpose yet, he met a pony from Canterlot University who was visiting Baltimare for the weekend, who introduced him to music. Borrowing a trombone from the high school, Encore blew the Canterlot pony away, almost literally, with his newly discovered talent. At that moment, his cutie mark appeared. Excited, he rushed home to show to his family, who expressed a deep disappointment in Encore's choice to pursue music rather than sport.<br /><br />It was with hard feelings that Encore left home to go to Canterlot University to study music. While there, he learned to play many more instruments, particularly brass instruments, although he learned to play piano and sing too. After a couple years at the College, Encore discovered that his parents had followed him to Canterlot and had been spying on his progress. Still angry with them for their previous disapproval, Encore left Canterlot disgracefully. Here, he changed his name to what it is now, in hopes it would throw his persistent family off his tail. <br /><br />Where he went next is only known to him. All anypony really knows is that he was abroad for several years, completing his musical education. There have been rumours that he was sighted in the Hidden Woodland Cities of the Deer, learning from there mystical ways, and it has been said that he was sighted among the band in Sydneigh, far across the ocean. During his studies abroad, Encore learned to speak several tongues as well as his own, a result of singing in foreign choirs. <br /><br />(Where he travelled to will probably vary, depending on the roleplay he is involved in._<br /><br />Recently, however, he's moved back to Equestria, and made his new home in Ponyville, where he thought his parents wouldn't think to find him, and where he still lives, making a living off of giving music lessons, and occasionally performances in various ensembles and productions. Encore often meets with and plays alongside other acclaimed pony musicians, including such names as Octavia and Vinyl Scratch. <br /><br />He currently resides outside Ponyville, towards the Everfree Forest, in an opulent manor house with his friends Rag and Tag, the mischievous twins, and near a rather quiet pony named Evergreen who seems to live in a gigantic garden.
