• Detective Kerry Bog

    Modphase

    • Age: 26

      Gender: Male

      Species: Earth Pony

Appearance: Bog has a beige coat, brown hair, grey eyes, yellow hooves, and wears a white dress shirt as well as a red tie with dark grey stripes in it.

Cutie Mark: At the age of ten years old, Kerry earned his cutie mark. One day he overheard is parents talking about the latest news headlines. Riff Raff, a Pegasus pony, had gone missing earlier that day. Kerry, determined to help in any way he could to find his own friend, started searching for clues to his whereabouts. He never thought he would actually be the one to find him.

Taking a break from his tiring detective work, Kerry decided to play hoofball with some friends. 20 minutes and a broken window later, and Kerry wa s escorted to the city hall by the officers of the law. Due to construction on the road to city hall, the small convoy had to take a detour through a small wooded area. That was when Kerry noticed something not one police officer in the entire town could debunk.

A very large, wounded, vulture-like bird was hobbling on the ground. Kerry glanced at it, and noticed a small orange feather in it's talons. He remembered how Riff Raff loved to take walks through the wooded part of town. He jumped out of the wagon the officers were transporting him in, and cautiously took the feather out of the bird's talons, and yelled, "It's Riff Raff!."

The police were dumbstruck. Kerry pointed out that the birds wound was an old one, and that it caused the bird's feathers to be plucked out when flying at fast speeds. As they were on the outskirts of the woods, and these species of bird only lived deep in the woods, and rarely seen in the city, Kerry deduced that that's where the bird came from. He rushed into the woods, the police following him in hot pursuit.

Sure enough, Kerry soon found a trail of black feathers, as well as a couple of Riff Raff's feathers. He followed them until he came to a crossroads. Riff Raff's feathers went one way, while the bird's feathers went the other.

He followed Riff Raff's feathers until the trail mysteriously disappeared. Kerry thought and thought, and the police surprisingly, did not interrupt him. He thought of all the scientific books he ever read, thinking of some sort of explanation.

And then it struck him. Woods, kidnapping, birds, they all went together. He thought of the name, he knew it started with a Y, no, it wasn't a Y, it wan an A, it definateley was, or no, was it an S? He thought about S-words for a while and was thunderstruck.

"Of course! He yelled! It was a Satyr!" Satyr's often lived in wooden areas, were known to kidnap filly's and train large birds to do their bidding.

Satyr's could usually be found by looking for small scorch marks on the earth, where their burning hooves walk on. After a while of searching, he found a trail, and followed it, all the way to the top of a small redoubt, where he the police force followed him. They let him go in first. It was a small cave, and soon enough he found the Satyr, his back turned. With a small beckon from him, the police force charged and overwhelmed the Satyr. He was escorted out of the cave, while Riff Raff was being untied. He was unharmed, a little bit fatter, however, as the Satyr was fattening him up for the impending meal.

When they returned to city hall, Riff Raff's parents were already there, crying their eyes out. Ironically, the window Kerry busted belonged to them, and they excused the accident, and later bought him a new hoofball.

As Kerry was being thanked over and over again by the police, and Kerry's family and friends, he thought of the experience. He had realized how well he had found the clues and put them together, and overall dealt with the solution. It was like a problem he had never solved before. As he contemplated this thought, suddenly, the entire crowd turned in excitement toward him. When Kerry showed confusion, they pointed at his flank.

On it was a bright and shiny, gold-rimmed, leather-handled, crystal-lensed magnifying glass, representing his talent for using information and intelligence to solve problems.
Personality: Equipped with a calm, cool-headed personality, gentlecoltly manner, witful resoning, logical thinking, ambitious mind, and a reputation as an overall loveable guy, this suave stallion can make anypony his pal using his natural friendliness and smooth talking.

Kerry does feel confident in his actions, has a high amount of self-esteem, and is known for it. However, nopony except close friends understand his inner problems. He has a heightened state of anxiety, suffers from OCD, feels insignificant compared to others who have more prestige than him, and when he fails at something personal, he can beat himself up about it. His very logical and thoughtful mind, while a blessing, also has it's disadvantages. He can occasionally over-analyze and obsess about small details, and his brain is a bit slow to realize things. Thus, it takes him a bit more explanation than the average pony when it comes to listening to instructions and the such.
Backstory: Born on a small farmhouse on the dry outskirts of Las Pegasus, life while living with his farm owner mother and motel owner father was relatively uneventful. Kerry worked on the farm some days, at a low paying thrift shop on others. Besides the laboring to earn not only his keep but his money, life was okay. His parents cared about him, and he did relatively well in school.

Both on the farm and at the shop, Kerry was well known for his curious perception abilities, and being notice things than many other ponies wouldn't be able to. Whenever a problem occurred, be it farm equipment, animal behavior issues, mysterious crop decays, second-hand clothes-caused rashes, theft, the occasional cash register issues, you name it, Kerry was almost always the first to identify the problem; and find a solution.

Once Kerry earned his Cutie Mark, he attended Fillydelphia University and majored in Private Investigations; Sleuth work, and in crime scene investigation. Once got his bachelor's degree at the age of 22, was hired by the Fillydelphia police force. For the next three years he worked there, solving all sorts of cases for the good of of everypony, and worked part time as a public inspector. The pay was good, and he was able to pay for a house in the more suburban areas of the cities, and pleasured himself in learning about hoofboxing, Ancient Equestrian history, and other light reading. Shortly after he turned 25 years old, Kerry resigned from the police force for "personal reasons" and turned to independent detective work. For more than a year he hardly got any calls, until now, one week after his 26th birthday, he was hired by the Vanhoover police force to inspect a mine at the northern border of the city. What kinds of things will expect? Only time will tell...
