Dodger
Age: Young Colt
Gender: Male
Species: Unicorn
Appearance: Eye Color: Green
Coat Color: Color of you base body: Brown
Mane/Tail Color(s) & Style: His mane is cut a bit short, sort of a jagged look to it. It often peaks out under his hat though. Long and flowy tail, but it doesn't reach the ground.
Physique: Surprisingly clean looking for somepony of his lifestyle. He's can a rather dapper young fellow and a charmer. He almost always wears a tall top hat, which covers up his horn.
Cutie Mark: An overturned top hat with a loaf of bread sticking out of it. He often covers it with stage make-up. Sometimes he will have his friend Black Jack draw a new set of marks on him.
Personality: Born to a poor family who lived in the slums, they could never properly take care of Carlos. So, at a young age, he struck out on his own, and has since gathered up a small band of orphans and runaways. Changing his name to Dodger, no pony in the gang knows his former name. That suits Dodge just fine, as he never really liked it.

Dodgers magic helps him in his thievery endeavors, causing distractions or bringing objects to him. However, he hides his horn under a top hat—making his skill all the more cunning. Somehow, if the gang is in need of something dire, Dodger can get it. Everyone knows that Dodger is the best thief out of all of them.

Dodger got his mark shortly after meeting Jack. Acquiring his shiny new top hat from an unsuspecting pony, it became his signature look. Stealing for his daily bread, his top hat helped to conceal his horn, and helped to hide his identity, while at the same time, becoming his identity.

Dodger wants to protect those he's brought into his life. Everyone fends for themselves, true, but everyone contributes as well, according to their skills. While Dodger may seem harsh at times, he truly cares for those in his gang, and losing one of them is not an option in his book.
Backstory: Starting with Black Jack, he rescued him from a traveling Circus. Dodger, being the kid that he was, thought he would enjoy going to the Circus with some money he had pinched. While there, he met Jack, a Cynogriffin, and after helping him escape, they became close friends.

Their friendship has faded a bit with time, however. Jack expresses his possible wish to rule the gang, but Dodger founded it, and it is his right. He also reminds Jack that he would not be here if Dodger hadn't helped him. They disagree, but they get along—they know that they still need each other.

Nowadays, though, Jack will sometimes be away for days at a time. Dodger thinks he knows why. But he doesn't worry for Jack. Jack's a strong, capable individual, unlike the younger members of the group. This is part of the reason he does not want Jack taking over. Jack cannot always be around to protect everyone, and may take a more ruthless approach.

Next up was Terrence. Abandoned on the steps of an orphanage, Dodger took notice. Watching over him as he grew from a baby to a foal, Dodger often visited Terrence in secret, luring him away with tales of a better life. He waited for the right time to take him away. When he felt the time was right, Dodger sneaked into the orphanage at night, and together he and Terrence escaped.

With the addition of Terrence, Dodger realized that it was time to find a more permanent residence. Finding space for two animals to sleep was work enough. Also, with the addition of another member, they were not as conspicuous when walking around during the day.

So it was that the family home was found. Scout was already there when the boys found it, but Dodger (while mistaking her for a boy) was quick to invite her in. She was more than happy to share her home, especially with ponies closer to her age and more sympathetic to her plight. Dodger allowed her to stay even after finding out that she was a girl. She acted boyish enough, plus, she had found the house first. She was also decent at holding her own in a fight, and was able enough to help provide for their community.

Black Jack helped Dodger 'capture' Pippin. Dodger, seeing Pippin lost in the market, told him he'd help him find his parents. Leading him over to where Jack was hiding, Pippin was amazed, if a little afraid, at seeing such a creature. Assured that he was harmless, Dodger convinced Jack to let Pippin ride on his back, while Pippin peppered Jack with questions. Dodger knew that a Pegasus could be a respectable thief, just as Jack is.

Telling Pippin he'd help him find his parents in the morning, Dodger managed to distract Pippin enough with games, candy, and the like, to get him to stay another day. Dropping the first hint that his parents didn't care enough to come look for him, Dodger has since been telling Pippin the same type of lies. Dodger and Jack have slowly convinced him that his parent's aren't looking for him and don't care about him, all while keeping him carefully hidden until the search has ceased. As such, Pippin has stayed, the youngest member of the group to date, even younger than Scout.

Whether or not the family will grow further, Dodger does not know. If he sees the opportunity present itself, perhaps he will add another to his 'collection'.
