Equinox
By Shift
Age: Young Adult (Techniclly, she's 26)
Gender: Female
Species: Earth Pony
Appearance: Equinox is a lavender blue earth pony with the physique of a pegasus. She's thinner than average, but in return she's a lot more agile than any ordinary pony. She has an orange mane that has been styled into a ponytail to keep it from getting in the way of her eyesight. Her tail (and mane) is incredibly unkempt and messy, and Equinox constantly complains how it never concedes to her comb. She has purple eyes and a normal eye shape.
Cutie Mark: Equinox has a cutie mark of a sun and a moon that have mixed together in a ying-yang shape. This represents how she's able to come up with a way to survive no matter what challenge is put against her. (Yes, she's very aware it's cheesy)
Personality: Equinox is the self-proclaimed number-one thief in Equestria, which is a blatant lie. Additionally Equinox is a good thief, she's far from number one, as she tends to get very sidetracked and procrastinates a lot. We'll not even mention her unorganized tendencies and lack of all manners when faced with food that is more decent than a ration. Due to her and because of this she has very flexible morals, and it's not unheard of that if you bribe her properly shell abandon her previous loyalties. She is generally regarded to be a cool and collected thief, however she usually acts like that because that's how good thieves act. She has a bad habit of comparing herself to others she deems better than her in her head and attempting to tinker with her personality in hopes of becoming a better thief.

As a thief, she's practiced in the art of lying, and usually attempts to weasel her way out of jams with a few well-placed words. Thankfully, it usually works, unless she caught a police officer on a particularly bad day. As another side effect of being a thief, she's good at using her hooves to make things and has an eye for detail. She's also proud to say that she's one of the few thieves she knows that can cook up an edible meal when given proper tools. When faced with a job offering a reward, Equinox tends to disregard morality in favor of profit.

When forced to talk to someone, she is usually suspicious but generally acts very friendly with most people who aren't police officers. She has developed the fear of rejection and is always worried that her friends are just pretending to like her and that they're just going to up and leave her one day. It takes her a bit to warm up to someone, but once she does she is a snarky but faithful friend who would die for you in a heartbeat. She has a habit of giving people nicknames based on their behavior or looks. Equinox also treats everybody she meets the same - heck, she'll even act like herself when around Princess Celestia.

Equinox is a colossal penny pincher and is more than slightly obssessed with money. She's known to do almost anything if good money is involved, and will almost always attempt to haggle with shopkeepers in order to save more money. While Equinox loves to hoard money, she isn't exactly excited to actually use that money for something. Equinox usually has a gold coin out that she plays with to help her focus (Despite the fact it looks like the opposite). If you touch any of her "stash", especially the coin she plays with, she will go beserk on you.

One of her more prominent features is her sheer amount of quirks, as she is fond of bugs and creepy-crawlies, prefers to crouch rather than sit (She claims it improves her sneaking skills), will take any bet even if it's for stupidly small amounts of money, has a habit of making mundane things like writing and opening doors more 'dramatic', knows a lot (when I say I lot I mean A LOT) of useless trivia, and she tends to talk to herself a lot when she's nervous, confused, or angry. She's attempted to keep her quirks in check, but they easily get out of hoof.

While Equinox does have some assassin-like mannerisms, she's a thief first and foremost. If you ask her, she'll honestly say that she's not worthy of the title of 'Assassin'. Although she is mainly a pickpocketing thief, she does know how to dual wield daggers and can shoot a bow relatively well. Equinox can pull off simple intimidation or assault jobs without a hitch, but has never had the guts to take a full-blown assassin contract.
Backstory: Contrary to popular belief, Equinox wasn't always a lying, untrustworthy thief. She started out as a normal pony born to some well-off, but not rich, ponies in Manehatten. As a filly, she lived for thrills, and because of this she found her life rather dull. Obviously, the only way to add some spice to her mundane life was to start stealing things. At first, she didn't steal anything big; she swiped an apple here, a few bits there. Sometimes she snuck out of her apartment at night and just broke into shops just for the sake of breaking in and the chance that she'd get caught. She never got caught until her late teenage days, when she got a bit careless when pickpocketing in a public area. Unfortunately for her, this pony was also a noble. Equinox almost got turned into the police, but was able to evade her pursuers. Unfortunately, the noble was so outraged that she tried to steal his super sentimental ring (She didn't know it was that important!) and put a large bounty on her head, forcing Equinox to leave the city.

Equinox started to make a living as a thief, stealing for survival now, not sheer amusement. Unsurprisingly to her, she was rather good at it, and was able to evade capture at almost every turn. The times where she did get captured are few and far between, and at the end of it she was able to break out of jail without any hitches. Eventually she bumped into other thieves and started to make a small name for herself in the thieving community; nothing big, but somepony that should be noted if one wanted to hire a thief. After a time, she started getting hired for jobs that involve... nimble hooves, particularly breaking into houses. However, while she is friends with a number of thieves and assassins, she is a freelancer who isn't particularly tied to any one guild or faction. Equinox eventually started to make visits back to her family in the city, despite her bounty. She tends to visit in a non-regular manner, but on average once every three months.

Equinox has also gotten involved in a few country battles, getting hired for multiple armies. She has never been one for politics and has switches sides when the wind tells her too.
