Appearance:

He's a Changeling who got creative, what can I say? He had a flash of creativity and decided to combine the three sub-species of pony and add some zebra stripes while on a mission for Queen Chrysalis in Equestria. He wears bracelets that he made during his spare time which can form weapons made from pure magic - yellow or red. As to why his magic is that color - his eyes are normally red, but he didn't like it, so he decided to keep said color only in his horn.

The wings are simply part of his disguise, with some armor at the edge, and the headphones are for when he feels the need for music (more on that below). Why blue stripes? Who knows - the overall colors he chose were at random from a crowd of various species that he then toned down or changed till he felt comfortable.

Cutie Mark:

His self-made cutie mark is a rainbow with seven flames sprouting from the top. Does it mean anything? Not really- he came up with it while seeing a rainbow in the moonlight while sitting by a fire.

Personality:

He's the strong, silent type, who's not afraid to get dirty when the time calls for it. But when he's not in warrior mode, he's a softy (with a short temper when *somepony* - read, Twilight - asks one *too* many questions.) who likes to read, loves to listen to music (which is why the headphones around his neck), carve things from wood, and explore the Everfree forest just for fun. One of his defining characteristics is that when you're considered his friend, he sticks with you through hell and high water. Unfortunately, he's a Batman pony, meaning it'll take *some* time for him to fully trust someone, and even then...

Backstory:

Where to start... Well, he became one of Q.C's elite soldiers when she saw how fast he learned and how easily he took out her other soldiers during training, so she decided to promote him to the highest rank of the elite soldier, one that allowed him to *ahem* guard the queen 24/7. He then decided to haul flank and refused to take part in the Canterlot invasion after figuring out that the queen's stories about the evilness of the ponies were all false after one too many missions into Equestria.

Afterward, he stayed low and out of sight of the hunters sent by his furious Queen by moving from place to place, till King Thorax came on the scene. After that whole situation played itself out, he decided to settle at the border of the Everfree forest in a two story cabin he fashioned out of wood, shed dragon scales, and hydra skin after he found that this was his favorite place. Right then he decided to stay in his unusual form, after having to shapeshift multiple times to escape his former queen, and at this point, not wanting to disguise who he really was.

As to where he learned these skills of reading, wood carving, and such? His position allowed him greater "freedoms" along with "ease" of movement in and out of the hive. As to why he learned these skills. Well, at first they were meant for easier interaction and integration in pony society for the purposes of feeding, then giving that food to the queen and hive. But after he escaped, he found that these skills were more useful for actual work, and so he uses his woodworking skills, using his free time to read for the foals at the library.

He doesn't really go out, only for food or when he wants to read, practice or explore, always having his sword in its sheath just in case. When he is out, you'll find him listening to music.

But, when he's in the middle of a fight, and he slips those headphones on... Well, you better run.

He tends to be a bit paranoid, what with his former queen still hunting him from what he can tell, but he's always on the outlook for making a new friend.
