Backstory: In a skyship there lived a clever, scheming sky-pirate named Gizmo Tweak. Not a skinny noisy, sensational skyship, filled with weapons and a metallic smell, nor yet a splintered, wicked, cosy skyship with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a sky-pirate-skyship, and that means comfort.<br /><br />One day, after a troubling visit from the treasurer Kythandir , Gizmo leaves his skyship and sets out in search of three important hats. A quest undertaken in the company of machines, friends and grand magi.<br /><br />In the search for the treasurer-guarded hats, Gizmo Tweak surprises even himself with his resourcefulness and skill as a mechanic.<br /><br />During his travels, Gizmo rescues a pistol, an heirloom belonging to Kythandir. But when Kythandir refuses to try fighting, their friendship is over.<br /><br />However, Kythandir is wounded at the Battle of The Sky-Shattering and the two reconcile just before Gizmo engages in some serious fighting.<br /><br />Gizmo accepts one of the three important hats and returns home to his skyship a very wealthy sky-pirate.
