• Gold Dust

    Loud Opinion

    • Age: 18

      Gender: Male

      Species: Earth Pony

      Appearance:
Yes, I know he looks like a pegusis... It's a long story, better experienced than explained. Also, he has a simple gold band around his right forehoof.

      Cutie Mark:
The picture was taken before Golden Crown eared his Cutie Mark.
His Cutie Mark is a yellow crown broken in halve; symbolizing his inevitably destabilizing nature.

      Personality:
Gold Dust has a very primitive sense of right and wrong. He is good at justifying his selfish nature to himself so that has insolated himself from any kind of epiphany he might have generated in development into adulthood. There is great potential for good within him, but his current priorities are frozen in a childish desire for selfish gains.

A bit of lying in his younger years has evolved into a tendency to stretch the truth. Hypocritically, he will often grow to resent those that won't trust him enough to leave him to his own devices despite how valid the reasons behind it is.
Despite lamenting those who invade his privacy, he can't help but do it himself in the form of eavesdropping. Gold Dust justifies this by claiming that he won't use the information agents them, and if what he learns is bad enough to break this rule, he will at least confront them about it. This may be harmless in most circumstances, but it is evidence of his lack of discipline. When push comes to shove, he will operate as if a double standard is far simply because he benefits. However, his ring has an influence on him. An influence that, whether real or perceived, seems to suppress his greed so that he can ignore it in the short term only to pursue it later on. The desire remains, but his patients can match it.

Aside from that, he is not at all confident in his finances. No matter how good a trade or bargain may have seemed, Gold Dust will often regret it immediately after he makes it. Because of this, Gold Dust rarely spends his wealth in fear that it will end in vain with him the poorer. The only exceptions to this seem to be soft clothing/bedwear, and food. Those things will comfort him when his gold won't.

      Backstory:
Gold Dust was born an earth pony and lived a relatively pleasant life in the manehattan suburbs. The only times he went hungry was out of forgetfulness instead of poverty. He was rarely left wanting.
The only real problems he had were an overbearing father, and a social bully which rarely bothered him, instead opting for less confident victims. What did bother him was how easily this bully could get away with it's antics. After winning a popularity contest for his school, Gold Dust knew that he had some influence, so he talked to people about dealing with the local bully, and he received a surprising amount of support. Knowing roughly everyone was on the same page, Gold Dust arranged a sudo-meeting with his classmates, and they all agreed on a hidden rule. This rule read 'If a student is being harassed, everyone is to rally in defense of that person, anyone who ignores harassment will be treated as accomplices. Soon enough, the rule cough on and before he knew it the whole school was using it. Eventually, the social bully has moved on to better things, and became a quite pleasant person to be around.

When Gold Dust noticed how influential his actions were, there was a flash, and his cutie mark had appeared.

Aside from this Early on in life, Gold Dust was introduced to Silver Tongue through a family reunion, where he was someones plus one. On that day, Silver Tongue gave Gold Dust a ring that he claimed to help balance out his more greedy tendencies. At first, Gold Dust was a bit taken back at the peculiar claim, but it looked like it would look nice on him and he was not a filly to turn down free stuff, so he put it on and suddenly sprouted wings. To this very day still wears that ring, not of his own volition, but because of a powerful curse Silver Tongue put on it.

After he was done with school Gold Dust decided to move to a small, coastal city in the tropics. To this day he does not spend much time in his hometown, instead opting to travel out in search of adventure.
