Cutie Mark: <p>
Hazel's cutie mark is of a purple heart mended by a cloth patch. It signifies her willingness to take care of those close to her, as well as her skills in both nursing and sewing.
</p>
Personality:
<p>
A kindhearted and amiable pony, Hazel Velvet deeply cares for those close to her. She may act a little shy at first, but she becomes very affectionate fairly rapidly. She’s rather selfless, to the point of neglecting to take care of her own self in order to attend to someone else’s needs. Her big heart comes at the expense of great credulousness.
</p>
<p>
She is a sentimental individual who maintains a firm stance that all life is precious. Strongly opposed to violence, she would hate to witness even the smallest bug being squashed, let alone do it herself. She’s somewhat childish in the way she speaks and acts, and absolutely loves to hear and tell jokes and puns.
</p>
<p>
Awfully stubborn, Hazel rarely ever listens to logic reasoning and warnings, instead doing what she thinks is just in any and every situation, often acting carelessly because of it. She is also remarkably clumsy, and has a poor sense of direction.

The mare carries around with her everywhere she goes a rhinoceros plushy, named Mr. Rocky. Hazel considers him to be her best friend and irreplaceable companion. Whenever she feels uneasy, she always resorts to the doll in order to calm down. Through magic, Mr. Rocky “awakens”, becoming sentient and protecting its owner from real danger.

Backstory:
<p>
Hazel hails from Fillydelphia, where she lived with only her mother. Early on in her life, she began showing a few traces of apathy in her behavior: a severe lack of concern and emotions for everything around her that would definitely compromise her development when growing up. In order to help, her mother thought of a plan.
</p>
<p>
For her fourth birthday, Hazel was given a small stuffed animal doll resembling a rhinoceros as a gift. Initially mistaking it for a soft piece of stone with spikes, she ignored it at first. However, as the time passed, the filly began talking to and spending time with the doll, growing fonder and fonder of it until eventually making her very first friend. Naming it Mr. Rocky, the two of them became inseparable ever since.

<p>
As the years went by, Hazel - now as joyful and full of life as ever, thanks to her plushy - helped her mother run a small flower shop in town. With that, they lived a very serene life. One fateful evening, however, on their way back home, the filly and her mother encountered a stray dog near a dimly lit alleyway. On a whim, Hazel carelessly approached it in order to pet it. But the dog, feeling threatened, attacked: to defend herself, she instinctively hid behind Mr. Rocky, thus having her plushy friend's muzzle area bitten and slightly torn open; cotton bleeding out. The hound ran away right afterwards.

<p>
Immediately, Hazel burst into tears as her mother promptly rushed in to her aid. Upon inspecting the situation and confirming that her daughter was unharmed, they walked back home, where she readily found a sewing kit and began tending to the rhino's wounds, suturing up its fluffy body. After the operation was successful and the patient looked as new as ever, Mr. Rocky was returned to his rightful owner.

After she finished elementary school, she decided to tryout for a spot in a prestigious magic academy in the capital: Canterlot. She passed the test and managed to enroll, thus, moving away from home along with Mr. Rocky in order to study magic. In the academy, she was generally able to maintain above-average grades and also greatly developed her general magical abilities. She took more liking to healing and curative spells the most, thus practicing those more often. In addition to that, she also took a few extracurricular sewing classes.

<p>
At one point during her magic lessons, she accidentally directed a spell towards Mr. Rocky and discovered something astonishing. The rhino doll suddenly sprung to life, gaining a certain level of consciousness and life-like movement for a determined amount of time. Although he evidently continued to be a stuffed animal, he became able to walk around freely (albeit only for a short period of time before reverting to an inanimate toy) and displayed great affection towards Hazel. It was at that point that the mare acquired her cutie mark.

<p>
Hazel still studies magic in the academy, but often travels back to her hometown to visit her mother. She aims to one day become a versed doctor in order to protect everyone around her, as well as a skillful seamstress in order to protect her best, special friend.
