• Hoofy Harrington

    jackleapp81

    • Age: 17

      Gender: Male

      Species: Unicorn

Appearance: A white colored stallion, with a beautiful flowing mane that's often gotten him mistaken for a mare. He was always a bit chubbier than the other ponies when he was younger, but as he got older he filled out a bit, but he's still not entirely confident in his physical image thanks to the grief he got from his classmates and friends when he was growing up. The thick horn that rests atop his head would normally be considered a blessing or a gift by any other pony, but Hoofy doesn't like the responsibility that comes with having magical abilities. He's often seen wearing his work uniform, which is a green-striped vest. Hoofy likes to wear it even when he's not working, because it makes him feel important.

Cutie Mark: No cutie mark yet. Hoofy worries that he may never find his special talent, and he often worries about what other ponies think of his blank flank.

Personality: Anxiety dominates Hoofy's mind. He's always thinking, always worrying, and his mind is a machine that never stops trying to accentuate Hoofy's "normal" qualities over his strange ones, which inadvertently causes Hoofy to appear even more strange to his fellow ponies. Thankfully, Hoofy's great empathy and compassion more than make up for his social shortcomings. His desire to make strong connections with other ponies is what keeps him going every day, even if he does manage to make more than a few missteps along the way.

Backstory: Hoofy was born under unusual circumstances. His mother was a unicorn and a waitress who lived in Las Pegasus, and his father was an earth pony and a simple farmhand. These two ponies probably wouldn't have crossed paths if it hadn't been for Hoofy's father's brother's bachelor party at the bar where Hoofy's mother was working. One thing led to another, and Hoofy's father somehow managed to woo Hoofy's mother into bed with him after a long night of drinking and fun, despite having the majority of Hoofy's off-putting quirks. The morning afterwards, Hoofy's mother was fired from her job for running off with Hoofy's father that night, and she instantly regretted getting it on with the strange man at the bar. She blamed Hoofy's father for what had happened, and he left her, feeling dejected.

Unfortuantely, Hoofy's mother found out she was pregnant. With no source of income, she knew that she wouldn't be able to provide for the filly. When Hoofy was born, his mother managed to find out where his father lived, and she left him on the doorstep of his house, not wanting to speak with him, or to explain the situation. Hoofy's father was not the man she wanted to be with, and she knew that, so she didn't want to over-complicate things. She had the insight to leave a note on the basket that Hoofy was in, explaining the situation, and why she couldn't keep the baby. She kissed her little filly goodbye, and then dissapeared into the night, never to be seen by Hoofy or his father ever again.

Hoofy lived in Ponyville from then on out, with his father. His father didn't quite make enough money to support both of them, but fortunately, Hoofy's grandparents lived close-by, and they helped out with expenses from time to time.

Going to school was Hoofy's greatest hurdle because of his the unique qualities he'd inherited from both set's of his parents. His mother was the outgoing type, so he was always looking for new people to meet, but his father was always sort of a weirdo, and Hoofy had this quality emblazoned into his DNA. He'd often say the wrong things at the wrong time, miss common social cues, or interpret a normal situation into something completely bizzare. However, these qualities did make Hoofy stand out, and because of this, there were a few ponies who admired him for the unique way he thought about things, or how he would approach different situations. School is cruel mistress though, and the majority of his classmates would ridicule him for his unorthodox ways of thinking.

Hoofy coped by acquiring a wry sense of humor, and sorting uncomfortable interactions with other ponies through a filter of sorts, that made things a lot more bearable. As he grew older, he did a much better job at hiding his quirks, but he silently resented having to do so. The qualites that his father and grandparents adored and encouraged were scorned by the general populace of Ponyville, where there were certain expectations to be met. But Hoofy tried his best to stay positive, and keep his inner self alive as he grew up.
