Backstory: The most important person for most of Isamu's life had been his father. Isamu's mother had always been a very caring and loving mother, but it was his father that Isamu looked up to the most. His father, Hibiki Shimanaka, was well liked by his peers and respected as a military strategist. As a father, he was a truly caring and understanding man. Hibiki had always encouraged Isamu to follow his dreams and be happy. Even still, Isamu wished to follow in his father's footsteps, and become a great tactician for the Zetsumei cause. One day when Isamu was only 14, while he was studying military strategy, he heard his father's loud cry from his study. Isamu rushed to Hibiki's aid, only to find him sitting up against the wall, with a Narumian kunai in his chest. With his dying breath, he said to Isamu, "Live life as you wish, my son." Judging by the kunai, it was declared that Hibiki had been assassinated by the Nerumi. From that day forward, Isamu vowed two things: First, that he would be happy and live life to its fullest extent, and two, to bring his father's assassin to justice.
