Cutie Mark: Ivy Swirl's cutiemark is a metaphor for her special talent- while she is beautiful just like an ivy plant, they are both masters of deception. <br /><br />Ivy is a gifted liar, and she often combines this ability with her beauty and charm in order to manipulate others. She is not shy about the fact that she utilises her talent for her own benefit. However, she will happily help others if she feels inclined to do so.<br /><br />Unfortunately, this talent also means that her friends can have difficulty believing her even when she is being sincere. This is one of its biggest downsides, and while this does upset her she understands why they are cautious. In an attempt to counter this issue she owns and works at a nursery, informing visitors that her cutiemark represents her talent of tending to plants. She is such a good liar that they always believe her! Her deception skills also make her a competent salespony, so she has no issues finding new homes for her plants.<br /><br />Ivy Swirl's special talent not only enables her to lie extremely well, but also allows her to immediately detect the lies of others.<br /><br />The infinity-esque shape of her cutiemark represents deception as non-linear- it is not inherently moral or immoral, rather this is determined by how it is used and its implications; her ability to lie suggests its potential virtues, while her ability to recognise the lies of others demonstrates its capacity to cause harm.
