Jelly Drop
By Blitz Boom
Age: 12 or 17, depending on the RP.
Gender: Female
Species: Non-Pony
Appearance: Jelly Drop is as seen in either of the pictures (adding one further down for age 17 form). The glasses she haves on are sun glasses to protect her eyes from the sun as her eyes are a little sensitive to sharp light.

She's a bat pony halfling. Her father is a bat pony full on whilst her mother is a pegasus, but she haves more characteristics of a bat than pegasi.

The random *cuts* on her coat is not wounds, but just a random pattern.
Cutie Mark: Three drops, representing her talent for turning the water in some rain clouds to jelly, that can then be cut out and eaten.
Personality: Jelly is a happy filly/mare that usually doesn't have a beef with anypony, unless they're bullies, in which case she might chase them around whilst hissing for a bit.

In Canterlot where she have grown up there wasn't many other bat ponies, and they tended to have education other places than the school she went to, so she likes to play off stereotypes and freak others out by hissing, snapping at them with her fangs and/or hang down from somewhere in her tail and catch others off guard. Usually this is done in a good spirit, but as mentioned, she does not like bullies.

She is very curious as well, and will often go around asking a lot of questions and explore things. Since both her parents are Night Guards though, she stops herself before she breaks the law by breaking or entering or something similar. She respects most laws, though as any youngster, she questions it at times.
Backstory: Jelly Drop was born as a daughter of the bat pony Stargazer and the pegasus Sugarbloom, in the great city of Canterlot.

Her early years were really unremarkable, with her parents doing theirs to give her a loving upbringing and shield her from the scorn that some showed the halfling for no good reason.

Jelly wasn't blind though. The light might hurt her eyes and she needed to go with glasses on to dim the light to her eyes from the age of two or so, but she saw how others looked at her at times, and she heard well what they whispered to their friends as they passed. Her ears were not weak as theirs after all.

Still, she tried to ignore it like her parents told her to do, and it wasn't That many she heard or saw things from, so there wasn't much of an issue for her. It wasn't like they barred her from playing with their kids after all.

Things changed some when she started in school. Being raised to live in the daytime more than the night - though she did like a long flight under the moon now and again when she had the chance - and having socialised with other foals during the years, her parents thought that it would be easy enough for her to blend in, yet like all parents they didn't take into account how little it took for bullies to be at large.

The second that those saw the strangely-coloured bat pony wandering into the school they had her in their sight, and as soon as her parents left, they went for her. Some of which she had thought were her friends before this, but cared more to fit in with those than to stand by her.

As her parents were told when they were called upon at the end of the school day however, she didn't need them either. Like many bullies they were cowards, and unbeknownst to Jelly's mother, her father had taught her a few ways to scare off others he had learned in his more rebellious years and some self-defence as he wanted to make sure she didn't get hurt.

As such it had started with the first bully getting the mud back in his face that he tried to toss after her, and ended with them scattering shortly after when she spread her leathery wings and hissed at them, fangs bared and walking slowly towards them.

As the principal said it, she were in no problem as she had just defended herself and nopony had gotten hurt as she didn't try to bite them or anything, just scare them off, but school policy dictated that he had to inform them anyway.

That evening, at home, she heard the first of many future, minor bickerings between her parents as her mother scorned her father for teaching her something like that, and her father arguing back for a short while that it was better that she learned how to fend for herself and scare off the bad ones than becoming a victim. As he would do most of the times in the future, her father ducked under and took the scorn though, as he didn't want them fighting since he knew it hurt Jelly the more it went on.

Situations like this happened some more times ahead, and as time went by Jelly went from being worried that she was a bad foal since it was usually about things with her, to understanding that it was more than that, though what she didn't get until the day came when another stallion started to show in the house and her father sat down to explain things to her as gently as he could.

He assured her that it had nothing to do with her, but that him and her mother just did better with not being around eachother all the time and act as parents and friends rather than the coupling they had faked to be for most of the outside world for years now.

It was a long period after that, with his parents consoling her and assuring her that they would still be there for her no matter what, and her mothers new coltfriend slowly becoming more a part of life.

Jelly didn't trust him much to begin with, which wasn't surprising, but in time she began to think that Roller Coaster - as his name were - were fine enough and started to hang around with both him and mother a little more, though she still preferred to be around her father.

Things went onwards more for some time after that until the day came when her father came around to tell them that he were moving from Canterlot, by order of Princess Luna, to help in the town of Ponyville where the newly appointed Princess of Friendship were and give her majesty some eyes of her own in the town. A trip he needed to do alone, as he thought this life more stable for Jelly.

Understandably enough, Jelly was devastated and inconsolable for days after that. Even if he had promised to come back and visit several times a week, the sudden lack of the most important pony in her life on a day to day basis were hard. Her mother and Roller did what they could, but nothing really helped. Until she suggested that perhaps she could go and live with her father then.

Though Sugarbloom didn't want her daughter to go away, she wanted to see her sad even less, and since her closest friends had moved away with their parents during the last few months there wasn't many others that really kept her in Canterlot beyond her mother and Roller, both of whom she cared for to varying degrees, but not as much as her father.

As such, whilst Stargazer began to prepare to move to the small'ish town and begin his work, Sugarbloom and Roller worked on packing things for Jelly, transferring her to the Ponyville school, sending her medical journal and such, and a few days after Stargazer had moved, it was time for Jelly Drop to follow him without his knowledge. Something that wasn't supposed to happen, but in the rush to get things done she had forgotten to tell Stargazer about it and hoped that the letter she gave Jelly would suffice in explaining things until he came around town again.

It was a tearful goodbye with her mother, and though she promised to come by often and visit them and the little new one who was on the way after settling in, it were still something that tore a little at them all as she boarded the train and left Canterlot for the first time in her life.

What will await her in Ponyville she doesn't know. She haves no friends upon arrival, and have no idea how the town or those who lives in it are, but she's sure she'll be okay.

After all, she will always have her daddy.
