• Kaltrop

    Widdershins

    • Age: 27

      Gender: Male

      Species: Non-Pony

      Appearance:
Species: Dragon, drake

Kaltrop is a light yellowish bronze drake with darker orange-red head & back scales. He has rather well-developed wings & flight muscles, but is light and physically frail for his age as dragons go. Formidable and athletic compared to ponies, but nothing compared to the muscular bulk most older dragons have. Basically a pegasai's build for a dragon.

As a young adult male dragon, Kaltrop is just after the stage where a young bipedal dragon gains a heavy enough frame to force it down on all fours. He measures about fourteen feet from chest to tail tip. Other then the top "hair" scales that stand up rather spiky along his back & neck he also has a cream-white row of thicker, smooth scales down his neck & belly. He also has magenta eyes and a pair of over-long, sharpened upper canine teeth. He still has the magic breath from his youth.

      Personality:
While there is a bounty on Kaltrop's head & he is a notable sadist, he isn't a particularly violent type. He much rather prefers talking ponies into harming themselves & then laughing at their misfortune. While ponies have either bled to death or gotten accidentally crushed by him, he has always dismissed his blame in such as kharmic payback. While he tends to be negative, critical & anti-social, this is more of a front for his social awkwardness & incapability to empathize with others regardless of their species. He has a bad habit of reflecting blame on others when he can't stand it himself & is just about one of the poutiest dragons you can find.

As an aside: Tsundere is a personality type that is known for being abrasive or hyper-defensive at first, then rather sweeter once they become used to others. Hard, then soft. Tsun-shun, however doesn't have soft sides. A tsun-shun tries to be as intimidating & as off-putting as they can, because they try not to face their own problems & depression. Kaltrop falls into this latter category.

Kaltrop however isn't a dragon without mercy or a lighter side. He is also secretly rather a large collector & cherishes his collection to an obsessive length, fretting terribly at any thought of harm to them or even going out of his way to find hawkish polish sales-stallions that don't mind business from a drake.

      Backstory:
Kaltrop was hatched and entrusted to an earlier protege to Celestia. However it was soon made clear that this student cared more for power and was banished for her hubris & avarice only a few short years into the young drakling's life. A committee was tasked to decide what should happen to the young dragon assistant and they came to the assumption that perhaps what little time young Kaltrop had spent being raised in pony culture would not cause too much detriment and released him to the wild to live with his own kin.

    They were wrong.

The other dragons could smell the pony on him and hear it in the way he talked. Kaltrop soon learned not to trust or hide his hostility. He never forgot how the mare who raised him abandoned him & how not soon after was unceremoniously dumped out on his own. To him, ponies were the greedy, deceitful monsters and they needed to pay, so he came up with an idea for his own special horde.

As he grew up, he found himself a good sized cave in a canyon that was both away from other dragons, yet close to a nearby, rarely traveled pony road. He built an intentionally rickety bridge right over his cavern so he could hear stray travelers and whenever they would cross his bridge, he would swoop around and down to the opposite end to offer them a deal. Either risk the dangerous trip back over the bridge... or pay him. ....With their own hooves.

How the hooves came off wasn't his concern; be it magically, his two teeth specifically sharpened for just this occasion or watch them gnaw off their own feet just to pass "safely." All that matters to Kaltop of The Hoof-Horde, was that there are ponies out there in pain because of him, preferably of their own free will, stupidity & bottomless duplicity.
