Appearance: Kratr is a giant bombardier beetle. He has grown slightly larger than a pony, about a meter and a half long, and coming up to the shoulders of ponies in a normal stance. He can get up to their heads if he stands as tall as possible. Kratr has wings, but they are not strong enough to lift his heavy, armored body.

Personality: Kratr is very patient, always willing to wait a little longer to see how things will play out. As a tiny beetle, he was willing to let a predator crawl all over him, waiting for it to make the mistake of approaching his abdomen, and then driving it away with a well-timed burst. He prefers to dissuade conflict than to resolve it, and his reaction in an unfamiliar situation is usually to hunker down and wait it out. He has had few friends, since he lived in the Everfree Forest, and knows little about ponies and their life. Nor does he much care what happens to them. He has made an alliance of convenience, and nothing else. However, he is still a friend of Zecora's, and though he no longer is her pet, he is still fiercely loyal to and defensive of her.

Backstory: Kratr has lived most of his life peacefully. He began as an ordinary bombardier beetle, foraging on the floor of the Everfree Forest. He found his way, about a week old, into Zecora's hut and fell into a magic potion which caused him to grow to his current size. He became Zecora's pet. She kept him for three years, and enchanted him with the power of speech, but he eventually tired of it and left. He stayed in the Everfree Forest until he could sense the chaos beginning to spread. He fled and found his way to Ponyville, where he wants to join the fight in the hopes of liberating his home.
