Appearance: Bluish grey coat, with a pitch black, messy mane. Not particularly well built, but not too scrawny either.
Cutie Mark: A lock, not unlike those seen on a locker.
Personality: Lock Heart is a sarcastic son of a bitch who doesn't get along well with others. Oh sure, he tolerates other ponies, and will even joke around with them. But nopony is free from his judgmental gaze, and he secretly loathes anyone that isn't as unhappy or downtrodden as he is.
Backstory: Lock Heart was born and raised in the "hard streets" of Manehatten. He got his cutie mark the day he decided that letting others into his life just wasn't worth the effort... when he was one year old, and somepony didn't return the crayon they had borrowed.

With few other outlets available or interesting to him, Lock Heart excelled in elementary school, and was eventually labeled as "gifted". This did little to calm his budding superiority complex.

With no actual jobs or careers interesting him, Lock Heart decided to pursue higher education. His mother enrolled him at academy in the far-off land of Alicornia, a nation-state run by the ponies who considered themselves too sophisticated and upper-class for even cities such as Canterlot. Lock Heart was not pleased by this change of events, but the tuition was a gift from his mother, and it couldn't hurt to be far away from the ponies he'd scorned for years.

Unfortunately, Alicornia brought all the difficulties of youth back to the forefront for poor Lock Heart. As an earth pony, not even a unicorn or pegasus, and certainly not an alicorn, he was considered lower class, and endured constant mocking for being “under evolved”.

The education opportunities presented to him were the same, however. But they were squandered soon enough once Lock Heart discovered the joys of alcohol and no-strings-attached sex. Lock Heart dropped out after his third year of coasting, with nothing to show for all of his time and his mother's constant financial support.

Too embarrassed to return home, and unqualified for most jobs in Alicornia, Lock Heart became a hand-pony of sorts, filling all manner of unskilled worker occupations. From janitorial work to zoo keeping, Lock Heart has seen it all, and loathed it all.

His only steady “companion” of sorts in his many years of strife is Merry Sparkle, elder sister of Twilight Sparkle, and the most insufferable alicorn Lock Heart has ever had the chance to meet. Arriving in Alicornia the same day as he had, Merry had been immediately accepted and loved, whereas Lock Horn had been shunned and scorned. While Lock Horn would leave college to clean toilets, Merry would win a beauty pageant and become princess of Alicornia just for looking pretty.

Despite Lock Heart's ill-veiled hatred for the privileged alicorn, Merry continues to think of the two as friends, if only because the two of them shared a bus ride together one time. All enjoyment that Lock Heart can squeeze from life comes from laughing at Merry's absolute lack of common sense and pony decency, and insulting her to her oblivious face when the opportunity frequently arises. It's the only way he can cope with the fact that an absentminded model is next in line for the throne, and also his only “friend”.

Recently, events have transpired in Alicornia that have finally prompted Lock Heart to seek out greener, less merry pastures. Where will he'll go next? Nopony knows.

They probably don't care, either.
