• Master Xiang

    Unicorncob
    • Age: 75

      Gender: Male

      Species: Non-Pony

Appearance: Xiang is a Kirin, or a dragon-pony, with a dark red coat and amber scales, gold eyes, and a silver mane with a matching goatee. A pair of long dark red tendrils are on his muzzle, like a moustache of some kind. His hooves are cloven.
He has a pair of dragon-like wings, with dark red skin and amber scales.

He wears a grey silver cloak when travelling, usually with the hood up so to not draw attention with his unique appearance. A sheath containing a dao sword is strapped to his back.

Personality: In his youth, Xiang was energetic and confident, bordering cockiness. He loved to fight, and he refused to fight anypony he deemed weaker than him. He soon learned humility and began acting much nicer.

Nowadays, in his older years, he has become somewhat of a foul-tempered old man, regaining his impatience in a new form. He was no longer too fast for anypony; rather, he began getting tired of amateur mistakes from experienced students.

He does, however, see his personal student, Jade Lotus, in a different light. While she is also not safe from his foul temper, he is also a bit more lenient with him, almost seeing her as a niece.

Backstory: Xiang was born in a village of Kirin, hidden in the mountains of eastern Neighsia. He was a cocky young colt, and became rather stuck-up about his abilites when training in martial arts. Everypony he defeated, he deemed weak and not worth his time, so he refused rematches or even challenges from similar ponies.

When he was quickly defeated by an older kirin, who would then go to become his teacher, he learned humility and began acting much nicer to his peers.

The dojo in the Neighsian Mountains became his home in his young adult years, where he moved to learn more advanced styles, such as using weaponry. He developed a rather unique style, using the air to his advantage as well as the ground. His speed and agility in the sky got him the name 'The Scaled Phoenix'. A moniker he wore proudly from that day on.

As he got older, he found himself helping younger students struggling to understand any lessons. The teachers quickly noticed and appreciated this, and they offered him to let him stay as a proper teacher. Of course, he accepted.

However, in his older years, he began getting increasingly frustrated watching students make amateur mistakes, often those that he helped to fix. A bitterness brought on by old age.

One day, a spirited young pegasus filly named Jade Lotus showed up at the school, eager and rather impatient to learn. The old kirin saw something familiar in her; it was like when he was that age.
Seeing potential in her, he took Jade on for private classes as well as her usual tutoring.

Now that Jade has graduated and is travelling across the lands, The Scaled Phoenix finds himself back teaching again. Aside from the odd instances of travelling himself...
