      Species: Non-Pony

      Appearance: Smaller than usual timberwolves, about a head shorter than a pony. He has two hearts carved into his flank where a pony's cutie mark is located to express the bond between him and his pony friend.

      Cutie Mark: Comparable to a tattoo, <Name> worked it into his flank using a stone.

      Personality: Midnight is a really shy and fearful timberwolf. He stays loyal and protective of his companion <Name>. Uncharacteristically for his species, he does not hunt other animals or ponies and is scared easily.

      Backstory: Midnight was born by a lonely mother who was excluded from her pack. Due to her weak nature she was barely able to hunt down any prey for herself and her cub, so she turned to roots and plants to survive. Even though it was possible to survive this way, her former pack was looking for her. As a deserter to the group she was shunned and hated by the others. Like any weak animal she was doomed to be killed. On the day of their final meeting, she fought the attackers back with her last power. However the different nutrition and giving major portions to her child were taking their tolls. A strong bite to her neck ended her life. Watching the act of gore, Midnight ran from the other wolves, just to find more and more. Suffering scratches and bites, he still managed to escape through the roots of the forest and found shelter in the cave where his only friend and family eventually found him.

    Wugh, I do mean all these criticisms in good faith and nature, so...don't worry too much about me textwallin' you, alright?

       For one, that "cutie mark" of his had to have been non-committal on his part. The vibe I get from what you've said seems to paint him as a rather intelligent & faithful animal companion, and as he couldn't reach his flank it would have had to have been carved into him by his "master." As you describe him as timid, I do doubt he would have agreed to having his flesh chipped into willingly...

     

       I get its mother being weak and abandoning the pack (though I think the reason most packs form in the wild is for the whole safety in numbers & trust in the other members),but if she was shunned and packless, why would she go back to the pack meetings knowing she'd be killed? We've seen timberwolves behave more like constructs in the show before, right? Just simply reassemble after being slain, so I somehow come to doubt that they have any vitals or veins to be severed that could result in them being permanently killed. "Like any weak animal she was doomed to be killed." Kind of a depressing thought, that. I kind of get the feeling you only gave Midnight a mother so you could have her killed to make him afraid and weak in turn, so that it would be easier to explain how your other OC would have come to tame him. Thereby mitigating the entire point of having it be its own character.

       I am truly sorry if I came off as too critical, didn't mean it as such.

    Oh, I just noticed this comment, apparently you don't get notifications for comments on characters, or it just got lost between different brohoofs. It doesn't come out as too critical in any way, I just started picking up this OC again and am kinda of revamping them, so your critic is appreciated and gives me a few points to work on, now that I'm going to work out the backstory more detailed and less raw and rushed.
