Molotov Boom
By Blitz Boom
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Species: Unicorn
Appearance: As seen on the picture, though for clarity, the thick glass is only on his right eye, not the left. It haves several lenses in it so that he can zoom in on things, which helps when he works, along with a few others setting that makes him somewhat able to see in the dark and in harsh light. Only with the right eye though, so he will lack some depth perception.

He is about a half head taller than others his age.
Cutie Mark: A pair of mechanical wings with three gears underneath it.
Personality: Depends on who you ask.

If you ask him, he's a great guy, loveable and open to others, with a burning desire to help in what ways he can.

If you ask others, the word that tends to come to mind first will be crazy, followed with impulsive, hard to predict, and hard to stop if he first gets into his head some sort of idea that he could bring to life.

Both are correct though. Molotov is a kind pony at heart that wishes the best for everypony, and invents because of that, but he is also kinda pushy with his ideas at times, expresses himself strangely, and can get kinda clingy at times.

He can be shook out of that sort, but even at his base, he can be a bit too out there for some, and rambling on about ways to create inventions can be taxing on some minds.
Backstory: There is two actually, depending on the RP being set in the present or longer down the line.

(Present) Molotov Boom were once part of a great family. Mother, father, his two uncles and his little sister, all working in a small town called Centre Zero, which were a town founded and maintained by scientist that wanted to work independently of any crown or outside influence to further their crafts.

There were biologists, mathematicians, magic studies and so forth, but when it came to gears, bolts and explosives, none could keep a flag to the Boom family, who stood for creating a great deal of the physical, day to day things they made use of in town, as well as maintenance.

Molotov were doing great in that regard. He were tutored by his uncle to become a repairman, so he tended to help a little here and a little there around town, and otherwise spent his time in the machine shop with his more inventive sort of family.

Well, when he wasn't keeping an out for his little sister, who had gotten immensely good at creating explosives from an early age and needed somepony to watch over her at times.

It wasn't something he minded though, as he quite liked Blitz and her antics, and as time went by, tended to prefer to work with her too, but it did take time out of his own work sometimes which lead to a few spars here and there. Typical sibling rivalry, just with more missing screwdrivers.

He especially liked when, at age ten, she began to try and work on her own set of wings because she wanted to be like him. He wanted to help with with it, and share his own design that he made when he hit 15 and made his first workable model, but his mother asked him not to, and see what she were able to do on her own, which he did without hesitation.

Both him and Blitz adored their parents, and mother especially, and would do anything she asked. Which tended to either be stopping to annoy everypony with their antics, help out with something, or try and nudge them along to their next big invention. Like a functioning reactor of clean energy, or the rocket that she had been working on for the past three years.

All in all, life were good for him, and he were even starting to get a good eye for one of the town's biologists that wasn't too shy about giving him a wink when she saw him, when something happened.

What exactly though, he doesn't know. He were gone from town for a few days to get some supplies for a project he had been working on, and came back to find the town abandoned.

There were clear signs of there having been fought of somepony or something that had eventually broken through the gates, and several of their defensive systems had gone off to help with things, but there wasn't any trace of anypony there. No matter how long he looked, he found nopony. Just the occasional splatter of blood and dragging marks, yet no pools that seemed to indicate anypony had died, including his own family.

Whoever had gone for the town seemed to have taken something with them other than everypony though: His mother's rocket, who wasn't in it's place anymore. Sure, she might have tried to use it, but it was untested and doubtfully in any sort of working condition at the time, and it wouldn't hold room for more than a few ponies. Something which she could have done herself and perhaps his father and Blitz, but he knew that his mother were no coward that would leave everypony behind, so he strongly doubted that. Plus, nopony else knew how the thing actually worked beyond her, no matter how much they looked at her schematics.

He were understandably out of it from fear, confusion and grief, but he knew the town's protocol in case something bad happened and as such, went through each and every one of the buildings in town and gathered all the research papers, schematics, diaries etc. that he could find, and loaded them up in a sealed container that he took away and his before going to Canterlot to ask of help from the crown.

Though their town were on good standing with Canterlot, they had never wanted to have their research controlled and kept in a tight loop where it could be years before something were even tested, much less released, and as such wanted their things kept by one of their own and distributed around the country to those who could make the best use of it in case something happened, rather than let everything fall into the hooves of somepony in Canterlot.

They kept sending reports and results though, and at least the Boom family were fiercely loyal to Celestia's rule, but they just wanted the information to be free, even if this slowed the time before the guards could come and inspect his home town by about two days, and it were a mandate of the town. Something which they all swore to follow, in case the worst happened.

What have happened in the two months since the town got under quarantine by the crown he doesn't know. Nearly two months have passed, and he is still nowhere near hearing an answer, though he isn't overly surprised. Considering what they might have been working on in there, the guards would have had to make sure what they were dealing with to some extend, and that took time. Time that he have used to make sure that the papers in the box got have gotten send to those who strive for progress in the right fields, and understands that it is for the betterment of all, not just themselves. A slow process, but it have helped that he knows some out there that he trusts with this at least.

It wasn't like they were isolated after all, they made contact with other towns and scientists around the country often, and the news of what happened to the town send some sad ripples around as more began to spread the word that Centre Zero was no more, yet the work had to go on. Perhaps in due time, another group would build a new town like it, and begin the cycle anew, which he could then join and carry on the legacy? He would have to hope for that, because there wasn't really anypony who could take up after his family, as they weren't really know about anywhere but locally.

They were inventors, and good ones at that, but as with many inventors, they could be a bit hesitant in sharing their creations before they knew if it were working, and at that time, they had more often than not already reported it to Celestia and things would begin to go around then. Not much reason to keep contact with them, beyond to hear about others, give some input, or basic social interaction.

This is where Molotov finds himself now, somewhat unknown beyond being from the town, and on his way to hoof over some more papers to a worthy recipient. In this case, ten years of intense magical studies, meant for the princess of friendship herself.

He had never met her, and didn't know if anypony had actually send her correspondence, but he knew that her name had been mentioned often amongst those researchers, and often in praise because she thirsted for knowledge as well from what they had heard, which left him thinking that she would do well with these.

She might be one of the crowns now, but it hadn't changed the tone in his home, and he hoped that she were still going to prove to be enough of a researcher to appreciate what he were bringing her, and understand the weight that laid with getting the work of somepony who wasn't around to finish it anymore. Besides, she were the element of magic, if anypony would be able to utilize the information as best as they could, it would have to be her, right?

And as for his family, and the rest in town? Molotov doesn't keep his hopes up for them, and have long since gone over to mourning their deaths. He had some hope the first week, but with nothing heard from them he believes that whatever attacked town didn't leave survivors.

=======================================

(future)

Being a descendant of the famed inventor Blitz Boom isn't easy. There's a lot of pressure on your shoulders to get things done right, and for the most part, Molotov have carried it well. Not as much as some other members of his family perhaps, but he still got a lot of years ahead of him to change that, so he ain't too fussed.

Going out from the inventor town of Centre Zero, Molotov recently decided to take a break from working on the family projects and instead take a trip around the world to find inspiration for something that will put his name in the history books, and more importantly, earn him the approval of Princess Celestia.

Ever since the town were first built with approval and financing from the princess of the sun, their family have sworn their loyalty to her, and as have been tradition from the time Blitz Boom did the same, they bring their greatest inventions to the betterment of Equestria to her, or whatever fair or such that she prefers them to show at, for approval and recognition. Something that, if they get it, means the world to antypony in their family tree. A traditional passage if you will, even though some does not pick up the wrench and instead chose something else that is a bit more mundane.

They don't go after those who does not go the inventor road though. It is only amongst those who does have the wrench close at hoof that the recognition of Celestia is as important as it is to the Boom Family, whilst the rest are under less or no pressure.

In this setting, Molotov haves two younger sisters. The twins Fuse Boom and Crackle Boom, that needs to be under constant supervision to not accidentally blow up half the countryside. Though they are kept well checked up upon, they are also seen as having immense potential. Likely because their fascination with explosives rivals that of Blitz herself, and began from an even earlier age than her. She didn't blow something up until she were six, whilst Fuse and Crackle started when they were four, though how they were able to get working on something like that without anypony noticing or with their - at the time - limited mobility none of them really knows.
