• Monomyth

    Akari of Duskshire

    • Age: 21 (by default)

      Gender: Female

      Species: Pegasus

Appearance: Monomyth is shorter than the average mare. And by short, I mean half a head shorter.

Cutie Mark: A compass rose. Monomyth is skilled at using the stars and other natural means for navigation. This makes her a skilled ranger.

Personality: Monomyth is an alert, cautious mare. She's sensitive to her surroundings, eyes darting around that would seem to betray paranoia. As a result, it's rather hard to sneak up on her. Of course, as is typical with the curse of awareness, there tends to be little peace of mind.

Having grown up in an orphanage for most of her life, Monomyth has a very strong maternal side to her. Any harm that comes to children is enough to make her take action in that child's name. Generally, she's cautious around those her own age, but she's more playful and more willing to silly around little ones.

She's generally very sarcastic and likes to make terrible puns. It gets even worse when she's alone, because it's a coping mechanism. While she may not trust others very much and doesn't even really go out of her way for a companion, she really doesn't like being alone and will try her best to maintain ties to those she connects with.

Backstory: Monomyth never knew her parents. She grew up in an orphanage in Las Pegasus. There, she grew up to be a surrogate big sister to the younger orphans as she got older. She wished many friends luck when they found parents to take them in, but she secretly became jealous of them as the ones she looked after found new homes and she drew ever closer to being forced to set out into the world. She studied and wished on the stars for somepony who would take her in. But her wish never came true.

She was ashamed of herself for feeling jealousy toward the ones who looked up to her for comfort and guidance, not helped by the fact that she hadn't earned her cutie mark yet. When not a parent came to take her in, she had to leave the orphanage, an optimistic facade hiding conflicted feelings and no direction in life.

She took on many odd jobs to find her cutie mark, but it was mostly to get by as well. On her downtimes, she often wandered outside of the city and into the sky to gaze at the stars.
