At one point he was a saint, at another point he was a madman with a lust for power, now he is trying to find himself again. To retrace his steps back to the time when he was a saint.

Backstory: Masun was born in the village of Izu, Japan, under his actual name Goro Masamune, in the year 1288 AD. Under his father's guidance, he became a renowned blacksmith and still to this day is considered the best swordsmith. Masamune, set up a smithy in Izu and created various famous swords. He eventually met a girl named Haruki who he fell deeply in love with. A few peaceful years passed, but then a new Emperor took hold of Japan. The Emperor knew of Masamune's smithing prowess and demanded that Masamune create blades for him and his army only. Masamune, knowing the Emperor was evil, refused. The Emperor, in anger, publicly executed Masamune's father and mother. Masamune was furious, and wanted revenge, but knew he was powerless against the army the Emperor commanded. One night, drunk on sake, and clouded with depression, Masamune walked out of his home and into the mountains. Masamune eventually came across an weathered shrine that had not seen a visitor in years. Masamune got on his knees and prayed aloud to the shrine, asking for the power for revenge. Instead of being answered by a god, a ronin vampire dressed in a black tattered cloak, stepped out of the shrine's building. The ronin explained to Masamune that he was not a god, but could offer him the power that he asked for. Not knowing the full price to be payed, Masamune underwent the ceremony of the vampire. Sleeping for a full day after the ceremony, Masamune awoke in the shrine at night. As the full moon shone, Masamune could feel the strength coursing through him. Masamune went back to his shop with his new vampire speed and retrieved a sword he had just created as a present for Haruki. Masamune, then, proceeded to lay siege, single-handedly, to the Emperor's castle. After the killing the Emperor and all of the forces that didn't surrender with the blade he forged for Haruki, Masamune found the previous Emperor in the dungeons of the castle. Reinstating the previous Emperor as the Emperor once more, Masamune returned home. That night, Haruki confessed she had feelings for Masamune as well. The night they spent together was short, however. Masamune awoke to the sound of an intruder and he told Haruki to hide and not come out until he came back into the room. To Masamune's surprise, the intruder was the ronin vampire who bestowed him his power.
"I have allowed you your vengeance, but now your life is mine, as you shall forever be my servant. You will forge blades for me and only me, and I will rule Japan for all eternity." The ronin said to Masamune. Masamune tried to refuse, but realized that, under the contract of the vampire ceremony, the master had the ability to inflict extreme pain upon his servant. Hearing the cries of pain coming from the first floor of the shop, Haruki came rushing down the stairs with the katana Masamune forged for her. The ronin quickly subdued Haruki and took the katana from her. He gave the katana to Masamune and ordered him to kill her. Masamune tried to refuse, screaming in pain as he held the katana in his hands. Locked in anguish, Haruki walked over to Masamune. She nelt down and whispered in his ear, "it's okay." Not wishing her lover would endure pain any longer, she took the tip of the katana and pushed her body into it. Masamune dropped the katana, and held Haruki. Haruki, knowing the sun was rising soon, asked only to see the sun rise just once, with Masamune. Masamune slid open the door and watched the sunrise as Haruki died on his lap. In anger, Masamune grabbed the katana that slew the corrupt emperor, the soldiers who followed his orders, and finally Haruki, and ran at the ronin. The ronin commanded Masamune to stop, but because sunlight was streaming in through the opened door, they were both weakened only normal human abilities. Caught off guard, because of this, the ronin was unable to draw his own sword and was cut down, severing the bond between master and servant.

Masamune decided to stop making swords, and fled to the mountains in search for self-clarity and introspection. Masamune found a small abandoned temple where he lived during this time. After 10 years spent sword training he was unable to find peace. Masamune had developed his own swordstyle implimenting his vimpiric abilities but was ultimately unable discover inner peace. So, Masamune left the temple, found a cave, sealed himself in it, and fell asleep for two-hundred years.

Eventually, a skirmish was waged close to the cave where Masamune was hibernating. The rocks used to seal up the opening had long fallen apart leaving the cave open once more. A soldier was dying from mortal wounds he suffered during the battle and found the cave to die in. He went to the end of the cave, where Masamune was hibernating, and perished. His blood pooled up next to Masamune, absorbing through his skin and awakening him from his slumber. Even more tormented now than he was before, he tried to go back to the time where he was truly happy by setting up a blacksmith shop under the name Sengo Muramasa . Although he wasn't truly happy, it kept him occupied so he did not have to reflect too deeply upon himself. After a year, he had taken under his wing an apprentice and taught him everything he knew. It wasn't until two years after he started making blades that he realized the blades he created were evil. Working with the metals as a vampire imbued them with a dark curse that made those who wielded them blood thirsty. After this discovery, he fled back into the mountains. Muramasa found another cave, but this time made sure to put himself as deep in the cave as possible. This time, he slept for about 400 years.

It was 1917 and Japan had just started mining coal. A coal miner stumbled upon Muramasa's body. The odd clothing Muramasa was wearing and the fact that he didn't have a pulse but was not decomposed, except for his clothing, had Area 14 scrambling to retrieve his body. Area 14 resuscitated Muramasa using blood. Area 14 explained to Muramasa how long he had been asleep for, and what Area was all about. After studying and gaining his bearings, he decided to fight for Japan as an Area. Through many wars, Muramasa fought other countries' Areas. Muramasa grew tired of fights, however, and in 1952, he decided to take time to travel and experience different cultures. In 1954, Muramasa ended up in the USA. Muramasa opened up an automobile shop every 10 years, jumping from place to place to keep from being recognized. In 2000, he stopped working and started drinking and gambling away his savings. You can find him drinking and gambling away his days in Las Vegas under the name Masun Murray.
