Cutie Mark: North 's talent is flying at night, after learning to read the stars and the moon ways. It showed up after leading a band of students after they got lost at night. After being warned by many a flyer it to never fly at night, the young filly swallowed her fear and and lead the students home. Using the stars and the moons, the Pegasus earned her cutie mark of the moon and stars.

Backstory: <br />North is a pony decedent of one of the most well known Pegasus in Equestria history: Wind Whistler. Having been one of the lead mares under General Firefly, Wind Whistler help to found the Search and Reuses branch of the Wonder-bolts at the time of the history. Which grew into their own branch had can still be found in station groups all over the world and also many different races in also in the rants of the R.S.<br /><br /><br />Having retired, Wind Whistler tool her due out to help found a Pegasus colony up in the branch of the Crystal Mountains known as the Blue Mountains in chain of valleys named the Paradise Valleys. Along with many Pegasus and unicorns and earth ponies a small town was founded which stands as a trading post for many races of the lands. Wind Whistler kept to her R.S group and flying school after she started a small family which still calls this place home.<br /><br /><br />North was born and raised into a loving family with a younger sister known as Sweetsong by three years difference between the two of them. Growing up fast and show a keen mind her bloodline is known for let the little filly jump grades in a few years yet this also worked against not making friends her own age due to her intellectual at the time minus her younger sister. While practicing flying on her own, she would find a friend.<br /><br /><br />An strange little colt was digging and using a small net to shake out the parts of the dirt to look at was left with such a focus he didn't see the little flying filly peeking over his shoulder. Heading tilting as he muttered and took notes in lining up the stones, measuring and taking more notes she had to ask.<br /><br /><br />“What are you doing in the dirt and digging?”<br /><br /><br />Shock, he jumped up to the filly Pegasus looking quelled at him. Tao was use to being alone on his research and finding he was not was a bit of shock yet he took it in stride.<br /><br /><br />“I don't like ponies spying and me and its rude madam!”<br /><br /><br />North bit her left cheek in frank of being called a spy and turned flunky her back on him and huffed to fly off in a gust of dust right into Tao's stern face. This was how the two would keep meeting on off in a few weeks, both ending up in a slight fight which gave ways to back and forth of name calling and such younger things fillies and colts do. Which soon, they gave into just talking and learn they had a lot in common from not only being advience in their minds and grades but also a need to explore and find things.<br /><br /><br />Life long friends would North and Tao be from those moments. Tao's dream was to study archaeology and explore while North trained day in and out to join the R.S branch in Paradise Valleys. What was one of the problems that seemed to linger on North as she got older in reaching her teens was not getting a cutie mark. Sweetsong her sister had already got her's as a filly in a talent for air-dancing so why not had North found hers?<br /><br /><br />Making the young flyer bitter and lashing out even to her true friend Tao who had also gotten hers, he only took in stride as much as he could in their friendship. He would only give her some space and time to cool down which was the best for North. Knowing soon North would earn her mark and spread her wings into the sky higher than any pegugues!<br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Given she only would throw herself more into research found a love of the stars and moon with the legends behind them it was she found a leather Journal some years old and dusty in her families personal library. Opening it, she saw neat to flowing writing and nearly dropped it in saying who it belong too! Wind Whistler herself had wrote this herself! North felt a shiver of thrill in holding the very words of the founder of her family line and one of the most known Pegasuses!<br /><br /><br />What Wind Whistler had wrote was a study of the movement of the stars and moon, using this knowledge to know to how find oneself if lost and how to read the stars and constellations and using the moon to travel at night and such! If Wind Whistler could master flying at night, so could North and she would do it better!<br /><br /><br />Using the knowledge and her own keen mind and many a hours watching the movement of the night's sky, North tried her hoof at flying at night. Thing is Pegasus are not made to fly at night given their eye sight and natural evolution so this was indeed a task. Long nights earned some bumps, a few wounds and more than one lost wing feather on her side of things. Tao would try to help in marking places with glowing paint in random ways to add her in the training.<br /><br /><br />Did it pay off? Seems it did as North could soon travel the mountains just using the stars and moonlight long as she could see parts of the sky! She was happy in a way the mare had never known for a while in finally finding a talent all her own to make her stand out!<br /><br /><br />Now to use it! North applied to be part of the Search and Reuses for the valleys and passed the flying test yet her manner in working in teams or pairs kept her only doing small things which did upset her a bit. Not use to having many friends outside Tao who was in Caterlot in going to collage to live out his dreams minus when he came home on breaks.<br /><br /><br />She would get chance to shine, in part of soon on a fall eve as the sunlight hours grow shorter it was annoucnted a small school party had gotten lost while on a field trip and night had fallen! Parents pleaded with the R.S to find their young as Pegasuses took to sky and unicorns and earth ponies on the trails in hoping to find the little lost group as night soon took hold of the sky.<br /><br /><br />Given the darkness, and fear of others getting hurt or lost even with the lights unicorns could make with their magic the search was called off till dawn came in the morning. North had added in the search in every wing was needed and the idea of those little ones alone in the wilds of the mountain and knowing also what lay in them pushed North to break away as the first star shown in the sky. Her team leader calling for the mare to come! Yet North could only ignore his yell knowing time was short for the school group!<br /><br /><br />It was black, minus the starlight without the moon as North remember the small school group had been heading for Crystal Cove, a little valley with a waterfall out of a cave and crystals all over! Yet to get there, you could pick two trails in one was easy the other had many a turn and twist. Could they had taken the the other? It was easy to get lost in the maze of stones while dark was falling.<br /><br /><br />Turning on the light with a glowing stone powered by unicorn magic, North took to using the stars to center herself and which way to go in heading to the trails to the cove. Seeing the split in the paths, she landed in her tracking skills showing which way the little ones and teacher had gone. Yes! They had taken the wrong path and North knew how to find them.<br /><br /><br />Flying close to the trail and landing to eye the tracks, the voices of crying echoed in her ears in taking to flying around the corner and finding them. Taking safety in a cave, their teacher Sweetcall was happy to see the mare and her light! North landed and explain what they had to do, go in pairs of two and Sweetcall in the back with her own light and North in front. Slowly the students and pair of mares made their ways down the trails, North leading by using the stars to get them safely home! Seeing the lights of the village, a guard saw them coming and blow out a warning as a surge of parents and ponies and others raced out as colts and fillies ran in happy tears to worried souls.<br /><br /><br />North was happy, in not even notice her cutie mark flashing on her side well earned. Oh she got in trouble in having broken the rules yet also praised for her bravery and talent in finding the lost group. She was “grounded” for a while in breaking the rules but it just to keep things fair.<br /><br /><br />Soon after, North was teaching other R.S members to use the heavens in classes to find others at night but also what to look for in the day in the way the sun might be setting or moon flashing in the daylight. More than once she was called to use skills in finding lost souls who got lost but also in bringing with her small teams who took her classes and after much hard work was made a caption in the Search and Rescue!<br /><br /><br />North is now taking a small break from after being a Caption for the last 3 years to flap out the kinks in her wings in just randomly flying around the lands.<br /><br /><br />
