• Pearl Necklace

    Arylett Charnoa

    • Age: 34

      Gender: Female

      Species: Earth Pony

Appearance: A silvery white coat which looks almost immaculate. With a darker grayish wavy mane. Her eyes are a golden yellow, standing out quite brightly and vividly against her coat. She also has an eye style similar to Rarity, with many eyelashes. Her build is tall, with long slim legs, and she overall is more angular and pointy, having a pointy snout and pointer ears. Her eyes are also a bit closer together.

Her accessories include two pearl earrings and her eponymous pearl necklace.

Cutie Mark: A pearl necklace, obviously. It represents her skill for digging up and finding jewelry under the ground, and refining it. Pearl's current job is owning a rather successful jewelry shop, in which she hoofdigs and hoofcrafts every piece of jewelry. Yes, she digs out raw gems with her bare hooves from the ground.

Personality: Don't judge a book by its cover.

A cliched phrase that nonetheless sums up Pearl quite truthfully. If you were expecting a fashion-obsessed pristine debutante similar to Rarity, you couldn't be more wrong. Just because Pearl Necklace likes to look nice, clean, and well-groomed (which is due to her upbringing), does not mean that she doesn't like to get down and dirty.

She is very mature due to her age, and has a lot of experience. Having traveled across the world, Pearl knows about a large variety of things. Your classic example of a renaissance man. (Or in this case, pony.) This is a pony who likes to EXPERIENCE things head-on rather than read about them in books. She is very action-oriented, and cannot stand the thought of simply sitting around and doing nothing. This mare doesn't like to mess around, and prefers to get things done /now/.

In other words, she is quite a good example of an earth pony.

This is due also to the fact that she likes to do things with her barehooves, and enjoys her sense of touch. She doesn't mind a little dirt and digging, which is what she does for her jewelry shop. Out she goes, to dig up the gems and take care of matters entirely herself. Quite a disliker of bureaucracy.

She's generally very competent as well, and can keep her cool in most stressful situations. But she has a tendency to be kind of stubborn and headstrong, insisting that her ways are the best ways to get things done for everypony.

Another thing are her weird eccentricities. Again because of her upbringing, her travels have been relatively lofty and well-paid experiences. The weird eccentricities due to being a rather wealthy pony. She has a tendency to laugh at random things that others might not find funny, or see dangerous situations as "absolutely charming" or "astonishing." (Two common catchphrases of hers) She often has an inappropriate excitable reaction to morbid things, due to her immense curiosity to learn about them, which makes her a bit strange. This is due to the fact that though she has known emotional and mental suffering, she hasn't really known a lot of physical suffering or financial struggling, which is why she finds the idea of such morbid things fascinating.

Backstory: The life of this unusual pony began in a prestigious mansion of the Canterlot Elite. Born as the only earth pony in a family of aristocratic rather snobbish unicorns, her lack of magic immediately singled her out as a black (white?) sheep. They disdained her as being part of a race of ponies that only did farm work.

Though far from a tragic past, it did leave Pearl with a sense of being on her own. Her parents provided all of the necessary physical and material needs with their boundless wealth, so she never quite knew that type of suffering. But she did know a type of emotional neglect. They were always so cold and distant, concerned only with making their children appear prim and proper, as they should being part of the elite. She never quite felt loved.

Her sister, Diamond Ring, though a unicorn, was more insecure than Pearl and could not rely on her parents for emotional support. Thus the two of them became rather close, and Pearl came to care for her as a surrogate mother. The two sisters felt that they could only rely on one another, and that's what they did.

As she developed, she came to become a bit fed up with the way the elite would just sit there and do nothing all the time. She felt she needed more than that, she needed to experience the adventures of the stories she had heard from her uncle Cologne. She developed a need to do things on her own, with her own hooves, and liked to often sneak outside and soil all of her dresses and clothes, as well as her pearly white coat. As a filly, she played around in the dirt, and alienated almost everypony else except for her sister. The other children of the elite tended to keep away from her, seeing her as uncouth.

Throughout her fillyhood, her uncle funded several travels and trips for her across various spots of the world, and she only became more fascinated with travel and adventure.

Eventually, she grew into an adult, and moved out of her parents' house, with the thought that she would come into her own fortune with her own hooves. Though she initially knew a bit of financial trouble, her uncle would come to purchase her her own house and finance her for quite some time.

She tried several jobs at this time, having been a late bloomer in discovering her cutie mark. Though she always liked to adorn herself in jewelry and look nice, she had quite an interest exercise and liked to feel the rush of wind in her mane. She had a job as a race pony for a brief time, not having discovered her cutie mark still. In this time, she came to get her slim physique, and her long legs made her a rather fast runner. (Though she'd never come in first place.)

Eventually, she quit her job and came to rediscover her love of jewels and the ground, digging several up one day in a rather disappointing and disheartening race in which she came in second-to-last place. (She dug at the ground in frustration) In this time, she became less and less dependent on his wealth, and developed her own as a jewelry seller. The appeal of her gems and jewels were quite clear: they were not made by a unicorn's magic, but hoofmade and hoofdug carefully and meticulously by the hard work of an earth pony. The way she worked with her hooves astonished the others of the elite, for she had managed to create jewels that were almost flawless, with the precision, they said, of a surgeon. They became more and more valuable, as she sold each gem for large amounts of bits, and eventually came to give Pearl enough funds to purchase her own mansion.

During this time, she also became an active and frequent goer of nightclubs and other such underground rave parties. Her white coat and rather prim appearance garnered a lot of attention, but she became popular and well-liked due to her generally non-stereotypical personality compared to the others of the elite. Accepted into these underground clubs, she became known as "Ghost" because of her ghostly appearance.

Since these events, she has lived in her mansion quite comfortably, still occasionally racing and exercising to keep herself in shape, and overall leads a pleasant life due to her fortune and exploration of things she enjoys. However, this would all change when she would come to host a rather astonishing party out of sheer boredom... adventure, she would think!
