Personality: He's a shy guy, nervous around new people but always comes through in the end. He's a smart guy, but not very bright socially.<br />He prefers his thoughts, as he never quite felt like he belonged in the world. He yearns to return to his books.

Backstory: When Twilight Sparkle was experimenting with her potions one day, an odd concoction resulted in a powerful explosion. Though nopony was hurt, the explosion did have an interesting side affect: It turned a book into a real-flesh and blood- pony. The reason why is still unknown.<br />Raised by Twilight, Penmark discovered himself to be quite the scholar, earning him his cutiemark. <br />He now resides in Ponyville, close to Twilight's library, where he works.
