Appearance: Pictura is an earth pony with a light brown, sometimes paint-splattered coat and a long, silky, chocolate brown mane and tail. She's slightly taller than post ponies. Her eyes are different colors, one stormy gray and the other one emerald green. They always seem to have a bit of a distant, dreaming look.
Cutie Mark: The cutie mark adorning her flank, symbolizing her special talent, art, is a painters' pallet, every inch of it covered by some color of paint, and a well-used paintbrush with the gloss worn off. Pictura got her mark when at six years old when she sketched a pretty good drawing of a picnic.
Personality: Pictura is a bit of an introvert - she is not shy, but she does not often go to many parties or social events. A very passionate and determined pony, she believes in destiny, maybe a bit too much. Enjoying a bitter cup of black coffee is one of Picturas' favorite things to do. She loves animals, although she doesn't have a pet herself. Her good sense of humor comes in handy when trying to cheer up friends. She loves art (obviously). Occasionally she can be spotted wearing a bowtie, although she more frequently wears hats.
Backstory: Pictura grew up in Manehattan (not upper or lower class, really), but she had a bit of an Austailian accent from frequent trips there, visiting her Uncle Lenny (short for Camera Lens). She would often draw wildlife while there.<br /><br />Living with her parents, Gemstone and Shadow Myth, she went to an elementary school that served irritatingly greasy school lunches, and she met her best friend, Actius, in the first grade. She befriended many more fillies and colts when she was little, but none were as close to her as Actius.<br /><br />As a teen, Pictura would have to do lots of chores to get money from her parents to use for art supplies, and still she sometimes couldn't afford canvas. So what was her solution? Graffiti. No longer does she do that, but she used to buy a couple cans of spray paint and put up her work for all to see. Her friends would question her, but she just said it wasn't bad, she was just making "an unauthorized mural."<br /><br />When she became an adult, Pictura went to an art college for several years, then moved into an apartment with her friend Actius. She could only afford half of that home by herself, working at a coffee shop (she doesn't yet have enough money to be a proffesional artist), but Actius had the same job, so they combined their pays to buy the place together.<br /><br />Once, several years ago, Pictura went to see a play. The backdrop was pretty, the script was well-written, and the music was great, but only together, she realized, were they outstanding. She had recently been stuck, not knowing what to paint or draw or sculpt, but now she knew why - she needed to find a musician to set the mood, a writer to share their words, and she, the artist, would illustrate. She decided to venture out into the world and find the ponies she must find, although she still doesn't venture far from home, aside from occasional trips to Austailia. She is determined, however, and will never give up.<br /><br />Nowadays Pictura often spends her free time in her house, painting, drawing, or covering the walls with yet another piece of her work.
