Personality: Indus is incredibly calm and collected, ready to assess any situation and a response to it within minutes. He is incredibly proud of his abilities, and is happy to share his knowledge with others willing to learn.

However, his pride has caused him to develop a bit of cockiness, and he has a problem with jealousy.

Backstory: Indus Moonquill was born in Hollow Shades. As a young colt, he had a great fascination with magic, and how much that the Princesses possessed. He showed a unique talent for magic as a colt, and picked up on powerful and complicated spells rather quickly. Labelled a prodigy by his family and soon the community, he was enrolled to join the School for Gifted Unicorns, which he happily accepted after passing the entrance exam with flying colours.

He was a friendly youth who made a number of friends, and took the school's teachings to heart and his studies seriously, learning as much as possible about magic. As learned more about the Princesses, it occurred to him that there were no documents of male alicorns in history at all. Realising this, he set a goal; when he would leave school, he'd study incredibly hard, become noticed by Princess Celestia, and become her student. Maybe then, he would become Equestria's first Alicorn Prince, and begin a whole new era for the region!

He happily left the school after finishing his studies, and went on to study in Trottingham and obtain a Ph.D in Arcane Magics as a young adult.
He spent some time during and after this period writing his findings and theories, and ended up releasing a few books.
With a Ph.D and a status as a published author, he returned to Canterlot and rejoined the school as an educator, teaching Advanced History of Magic for the older students.

But, his chance to study with the Princess never came.

However, hearing the achievements of Celestia's latest student, Twilight Sparkle, caused a seed of jealousy to plant within him. The seed sprouted faster upon hearing the young unicorn's advancing into alicornhood and being crowned a Princess. He became almost enraged.
He had shown just as much dedication and ability as Twilight, if not more, so why did she get a chance?!

Fuelled with jealousy, he felt the need to increase his already huge collection of magical knowledge. He broke into the Forbidden Wing of the castle library and stole some Dark Magic spell books, taking in whatever he could from them. His mastery of the dark arts would surely win Celestia over.

...right? Well, at least he thought so.

After witnessing the trials and tribulations Princess Twilight and her court had faced during her rule, Indus had ended up developing a begrudging respect for her. She was taking a lot of responsibility at a young age, and he couldn't help but admire her professionalism.

In time, his wish to become an alicorn prince faded, and he now studies magic for a new purpose - to fill the empty role in Celestia's court as the Royal Wizard. He also got his own personal student - a younger mare named Cobalt Flicker.
