Backstory:

Proud Ametrine was the first-born child of Baron Bold Aventurine and Baroness Carnelian Clout in the Crystal Empire prior to Sombra's reign. From an early age, her mother took a great interest in her, and so took her under wing. She had limited contact with her father and brother, and for the most part, she didn't question this.

That all changed the day her father died, or rather, the day she watched her mother murder him. It was through her that she learned the truth, that her mother was the champion of an eldritch abomination that sought dominion over Equestria, that she had given Ametrine's soul to it the day she was born, and that it would be her destiny to usher forth It's victory. Thus began nearly a decade and a half of brainwashing that encompassed Carnelian's attempts to unlock her daughter's full potential.

However, her indoctrination was interrupted by King Sombra's takeover of the Empire. Unfortunately for Ametrine, her mental conditioning led to her attempting an attack on the king, himself, which failed due to her lack of control over her powers. As punishment, her privilege as a noble was revoked and she was sentenced to work forever in the mines, where she found herself separated from her mother. Without the constant mental reinforcement, her indoctrination began to break down until she finally rediscovered herself.

After Sombra's first defeat, the millennium of stasis, and the final liberation of the Empire, Ametrine fled the empire with a sack full of jewels a family heirloom, a warhammer named Firebrand. Now on her own, she struggles as she fights a one-mare war against her mother, slowly gaining more and more knowledge and mastery over her powers, awaiting the day that she's ready to face Carnelian one on one.
