Appearance: Quills has a large frame for a pegasus and is lanky with longer limbs. His wings are considerably large, even for a male pegasus. He has messy light brown hair and a short, but equally messy tail.

His mane is a tinted brownish/yellowish color, much like a parchment paper. His facial profile can be described as square regarding his mane and he sports a grown out beard and a small trimmed bushy moustache. His eyes are an emerald piercing green.
Cutie Mark: A red quill on a book
Personality: Quills is a largely solitary, preoccupied librarian and scribe in Fillydelphia. Unlike many pegasi, he doesn't exactly enjoy flying. Ironically enough, Quills is more often found walking on his feet as opposed to flying around, unless he truly feels the need to or wants to. He finds his wings to be such a burden at times that he laments he is not an Earth Pony instead at times.

It is not too say that he is not nice but rather that he's not inclined to socialize or play normally. He can be quite a grouch but those that understand or are nice and respectful towards him find him to be quite amiable, resourceful and helpful. He's almost always busy writing out something or organizing shelves in the public library as a senior librarian. He can be quite easily startled or frustrated and often when he is he'll have a sudden short burst of shock or anger, causing his wings to reflexively spring open often causing books, shelves, and paper to knock over to his chagrin.

Despite his bookworm and stern exterior, Quills has known to be quite forthcoming in issues and those he really cares for. He is more rational minded and intellectual than some other ponies are, going as far to question even Celestia and Luna's authority at times and what he feels are unwarranted superstitions and traditions. His wings are also surprisingly stronger than some would assume for a stallion of his build, namely due to the fact that he often uses them to hold or balance heavy books he is sorting and carrying.
Backstory: Ages ago when Cloudsdale and the original pegasi colonies had become more militaristic and harsh, especially under the rule of Commander Hurricane, many pegasi fled the colonies as political refugees as opposed to face being ostracized and oppressed. Quills' family was among those to leave for Fillydelphia. He still maintains ties with family and friends in Cloudsdale and other pegasus colonies. For nearly 10 years, he worked at the Fillydelphia free library, writing numerous papers on the side and eventually becoming one of its head librarians. He does feel the desire to travel and further learn about the world outside, but has yet to find a fitting apprentice and successor to look after the library and its works.
