Appearance: White, Black, and Red armor. His eyes are red bulbs. His mane and tail are black. Unlike an actual pony, he has claws on his hooves. Their use is seen in the "Abilities" section.

Cutie Mark: The capital greek letter of Alpha. It is not natural, as he is a droid. It is plainly a paint-job.

Personality: Alpha is the only unit of his series that is actually has emotion, which nopony is aware how or where he adopted it from. Living in Ponyville has allowed him to adapt certain positive emotions like happiness. When he adapted these emotions, it also allowed him to use these emotions more often. Occasionally though he does show major anger. His language includes of advanced vocabulary.

Backstory: The Robotic Equestrian Defense system was first proposed and organized by Celestia and her advisors around 20 years prior to today's MLP;FiM. The first robot of his series was RED-01, codenamed Alpha. Initially, he was programmed to defend Equestria and help guard the Princess (and Princess's when Luna finally returns later on). However, as the series advanced and advanced, Alpha's technology began to become obsolete, and he was eventually put "on the shelf." However, his "sleeping" unit was discovered by Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, and Fluttershy when they visited Canterlot for their own personal reasons. Unintentionally, they awoke the outdated machine, who accidentally frightened Fluttershy and Rarity when he simply began to walk and speak. Eventually he was reintroduced to Celestia, who clearly remembered Alpha, and claimed him as a prototype for the more advanced units. When returned to Ponyville, he began to break down and, in a rage about his realized insignificance, bucked a hole into the wall of Twilight's library before he completely fell apart. Twilight decided that this was too much to bear for such an unfortunate pony, even though he wasn't an actual pony. Celestia had recieved Twilight's request, and knowing Alpha was the only one of his series with potential friendliness and emotions, decided it was necessary for an upgrade on R.E.D-01. This was made possbile with a group of scientists, Dr. Whooves, and parts from retired (yet most successful) robots of the series Zeta and Omega. This made Alpha into what he is today.
