Appearance: Dull rust-coloured fur, faded dark brown mane, a prominent moustache. Wears his old military uniform near-constantly.
Cutie Mark: A ten-pointed star surrounded by a laurel wreath. Symbolising his talent for leadership.
Personality: Red October is a pony with dreams, a pony with desires. He has a vision and he won't rest until he sees it through. That vision is conquest. Red October wants to remake Equestria in his image. He is defined by his deep discipline and feels that the current reign of Celestia and Luna has gone on for quite long enough, and he feels he should be the next to rule. By force.

He feels that the goddess-like immortal princesses are undeserving of ruling mortal ponies and he further thinks that they're far too lenient. He believes ponydom has gotten soft and weak, and he blames this on the diarchy. He's tired of the frivolity rampant in Equestria and thinks that if the nation is to become strong and powerful, then he's going to make it so.

He cares only for control, and wants to subjugate Equestria and turn it into a kingdom servile to him, and wishes to turn every stallion, mare, and foal into soldiers in a massive army that will help him to ultimately rule the world.

Red October is described as stoic yet charismatic. Very well-spoken and cultured and good at convincing others to bend to his will. He is wont to talk to himself often, claiming this is the only "intelligent conversation" he gets. He thinks very highly of himself, and usually blames his failures on his subordinates.

He is a strict disciplinarian, caring only for his mission, and sees his subordinates as tools with which to achieve victory. He has no respect for weakness and even less respect for independent thought. However, though he is normally cool and calculating, he is dreadfully impatient and easily angered. He's quick to frustrate, and his impatience is often his downfall. He also thinks too highly of himself and often makes strategies under the assumption that they will work flawlessly, which is often not the case, and it leads him to many a failed plan.

As an Earth Pony (and a particularly large one), he is possessed of excellent strength and stamina, even for his age.
Backstory: Red October comes from a long line of military ponies. He enlisted in the Royal Equestrian Army at a young age and served well, climbing the ranks until he became a respected officer (a rare distinction for an Earth Pony).

His natural arrogance increased along with his rank, and his frustrations with the status quo in Equestria eventually led him to believe he could conduct a coup. However, he overestimated his soldiers' loyalty to him, and underestimated their loyalty to Celestia, and the coup failed miserably.

Disgraced, and unceremoniously stripped of his status and rank, he was banished to the Foal Mountain, where he would continue his plotting and secretly build a new army loyal to him.

Unfortunately for Red, all he could manage to do is recruit a handful of small-time criminals and rejects. Facing his toughest challenge yet, he is determined to press on and use his motley platoon to take down Canterlot and seat himself as King of Equestria.
