Backstory: Red Sage was born in April 17, 1917 in the small rural town called Maneston, located near White Tail Woods. As a colt he enjoyed hanging out with his friends, fishing, and baseball. He also loved cars. At a young age Red learned he had a knack for repairing machines when he was able to repair an engine faster than the mechanic there. This caused him to know his true talent of repairing. It also made him the 2nd one of his friends to earn their cutie mark. When Red grew up he got a job as a mechanic at Mick's Mechanics. He lived a happy normal life. He would visit his parents every Sunday for dinner, stop at the local bar whenever he needed a drink, hang out with friends. In 1938 Red Sage enlisted in the marines, as part as the 1st marine division. In 1941, He was promoted to corporal 3 days after Equestria entered WWII. The 1st Marines saw combat in 1942 when they were shipped off to Guadalcanal. Red was part of the first wave of marines that landed on the beach. It was on Guadalcanal on the 27th day that Red was promoted to Sergeant due to a battefield commission. Red took the place of squad leader after the original leader was KIA 2 days after. Red being seen as a worthy candidate and the 2nd highest in rank, Sage was made the leader of 2nd Squad. After Guadalcanal Red and the rest of the 1st Marines were shipped to Cape Gloucester. The marines there were fighting the environment more than the actual enemy. Rain had bogged down the island and turned the ground to complete mud. After the Battle of Cape Gloucester Red was shipped off to Peleliu. There the marines experienced the most bloody and confusing battle of WWII. After Peleliu there was Okinawa. While many veterans from the Guadalcanal days were taken away from the frontlines and relocated somewhere else. But Red used the fact that he had been with most of his squad mates since Gloucester, all his squad mates he fought with at Guadal went back home. His superior allowed him to stay and Red was shipped to Okinawa on the 2nd wave of marines that hit the beach. After the war ended in 1945 and Red Sage returned home, he had a hard time adjusting to what he experienced. He started having nightmares about the horrible things he had seen. He started having flashbacks about the war. Once while at work he had a breakdown and started crying. Asking why he lived while others had to die. He went to see a doctor about it, and the doctor said that he was diagnosed with PTSD, or post traumatic stress disorder. We started seeing a shrink about it. He visted the shrink every Monday for 3 months. After that he noticed he was feeling a bit better. He reported having less nightmares and felt like everything was gonna be ok. 2 years afterwards he met a mare named Blizzard. They quickly feel in love and started a relationship. After 2 years of dating they got married. They had 3 children. 2 colts and 1 filly. In 2002 Red Sage died at the age of 84 from a heart disease. He was buried at the cementary in his hometown of Maneston.
