River Serene
By Pat.Rio.T.
Age: Young Mare
Gender: Female
Species: Unicorn
Appearance: Medium blue coat

Bicolored mane mostly dark blue and some light cool mint blue, somewhat curly like rolling water.

White hooves

Light blue eyes, and only top eyelashes

Rounded ears, usually swept back

light weight, slightly shorter than Patterson

Almost always seen in a wheelchair, and with her brother, Patterson Rio Tacitus
Cutie Mark: Blue transparent glowing spirals in black spirals all surrounding a blue transparent glowing orb in the center, with a simple black eye symbol over the center. This stands for her exceptionally powerful telekinesis, or "mind over matter"
Personality: River is extremely shy around anybody, except for Patterson, because of her past. She does not get angered easily, but she is very sensitive, and it is not exceptional for her to break down crying. But it is good for her as it releases alot of tension.

She depends very much on Patterson when it comes to social life, and usually lets him do all the talking, not that Pat says a whole lot though. However, to Patterson she can be fairly talkative, and she doesn't hold much back from him.

She has very low self-esteem, so she relies on Pat to give her confidence. Despite this, she doesn't let her disability get in the way of living her life, and enjoying things around her.

She is exceptionally smart, and knows alot about history and social studies. She loves to read and do research.

Despite her love of music, she has extreme stage fright, and under no circumstances would ever perform in front of anyone. She does enjoy singing duets with Pat in their free time.
Backstory: (I have changed this backstory into a human version of the original, because of discrepancy caused by the difference between the human and pony worlds. Even though I created her after I joined the forums she is actually meant to be a human OC(just like Patterson), but for the purpose of roleplaying, she is a pony)

Not much is known of River Serene's origin. Even she does not remember much, not even her full name, up until being a young girl living in an orphanage in the middle-eastern country of Saudi Arabia. But she did remember that life there was terrible. She was always teased for her paralyzed legs, the orphanage couldn't afford a wheelchair so she had a really hard time getting around. She never talked to anyone and would remain out of sight when possible. She found out one day that she had telekinesis, but she didn't have any idea how. She kept it a secret from everyone, afraid it would be another thing to be made fun of.

Apparently the government knew more about her than she did at the time. One day a swarm of officials forced there way into the orphanage, seized her, put a bag over her, and took her off somewhere. Because of the bag, all she remembered was the bumpy ride. She lost consciousness and later woke up strapped to a table in an all white room with no windows. From then on, it was all in and out of consciousness, being hooked up to large machines, shots, blood samples, and they just treated her like a lab rat. For all she new that was all she was. It was all so scary and confusing to her, but all her crying seemed to get her unconscious more often.

This went on for more than a week, however, there was a woman who had been watching her most of the time, and she felt that what they were doing to her was wrong. So one night, she smuggled River out of the facility among supplies, and brought her back into town, but they were ambushed by officials. The small truck was over turned, and River rolled out inside of a cylindrical canister. The woman fought for her life, but was quickly overcome by officials and taken away. The officials began searching among the cargo, and up and down the street, while River crawled out of her hiding spot and tried to make for a dark alleyway. However one of the officials spotted her just before she disappeared around a corner, and a few of them began to pursue. She was crawling as fast as she could, but it wasn't very fast at all, she fell flat on her face in fatigue, ready to give up. But then something happened...a miracle maybe, she was flipped on her back, and picked up by a boy with a white cowboy hat. She starred into his eyes for a second, then blacked out as he carried her away as fast as he could, just as the officials came around the corner, and all they saw was a dark figure running away.

She woke up, still being carried, but just before she was laid down in a bed and blankets put over her. She had no idea who this mysterious hero was, he seemed to be only about one or two years older than her, all she knew was that she could not be happier right now. She was safe and sound in a warm bed, and it seemed that someone actually cared about her. The next morning she was greeted by new faces, and the face of her rescuer, whom she found out was named Patterson. She was taken to a doctor to find out what she already knew, that her legs were paralyzed. Patterson's family decide to keep her at least as long as someone didn't come to claim her. From then on she became quite attached to Pat, and followed him everywhere and would do almost nothing without him. And Pat looked after her, almost like a father, a big brother, and a best friend at the same time.

She seemed to lose control of her telekinesis at times, as evidenced by her breaking things on occasion, and and objects moving inexplicably. One day she finally started speaking, fairly well actually, Pat was surprised, but for a while she only really spoke to him. She told him everything that she could remember about her life, and her first name, which was the only name she could remember, River. She tried to explain to him that she had secretly always had telekinesis. Up until after she had been saved, however, she had been able to keep it completely under control.

One day, Patterson's family decided that they simply could not raise their family here for any longer without something going extremely wrong, especially since they were aware that the government was still trying to get their hands on River for reasons they still didn't understand completely. Plus they couldn't even get a wheelchair for River. After just barely escaping the oppressive country, they headed back to their home country. America!

After they moved into their new home in New York, for a while, life was fairly normal. And although River eventually became a little more comfortable around other people, she still prefered to hang around Pat more than anyone else, which he certainly did not mind. Pat later moved to an apartment in Pennsylvania, taking River with him so that he could take care of her, and both of them really didn't want to be that far apart from each other. To this day, they are still almost always seen together.

When Patterson took on a second life as the Star Spangled Man, she helped Pat by researching for him, and planning and coordinating his missions. River almost never uses her telekinesis, However if somebody were to try to hurt her family, especially Patterson, she will get angered and she will not hesitate to use whatever force necessary to save them.
