Cutie Mark: A cog with a wrench in the background.<br />This represents her natural talent with gears and clockwork in general.

Personality: Rivet is the textbook definition of a shut-in. she is socially awkward around nearly everypony and has trouble making conversation with anypony that she comes by, Her intellect causes her to act cocky around others and insult people who she deems to be acting stupid. through all her faults she is still quirky and can be very fun to be around once warmed up. If you need to, imagine if twilight sparkle stayed as she was in the first episode but would occasionally show promise as a great friend. That is Rivet

Backstory: Rivet is a member of the Gearhead family, a <br />long-running family of earth ponies with a natural gift of clockwork and imagination. She was raise in a town where the demographic of earth ponies was very low and was the only one in her class. Constantly she would be teased and bullied for not possessing what the others had. Her only friend was a wind up toy her father had made for her birthday. one day after a dreadful time at school the filly came home to see her father working on a new project. she couldn't see what it was but it was big. Several months had passed and her father was getting more and more frustrated. he would come home with a saddlebag of new gears and springs. after another day of failures, her father stamped out and cursed all the time he had put into that dammed thing, she knew what had to be done. Rivet came down after bedtime to see what her father couldn't finish, she opened the door and uncovered a stallion. A clockwork stallion, naked and broken. she gazed in awe at the work of art in front of her. She had no idea what she was doing at first but soon, it all just came to her. She could feel the gears and springs as they fit together and soon was racing to put just one more piece of the puzzle together. the morning came, Rivet's father came in to disassemble the stallion, noticing his daughter sleeping right beside it. "It's done" her father said in a state of shock "it's actually done!". Rivet woke up to see her father dancing around the room with glee.<br />She had no idea why seeing as she was still half asleep. She looked behind her to see the work she had done, suddenly something caught her young eye. there on her flank, she focused her eyes. A cog with a wrench in the background, a cutie mark!.<br />she laughed with such happiness, there was only one thing that could make this morning better. Rivet went up to the stallion and wound it up, the <br />mechanism was simple, it would just simply walk forward but the fact that it worked was enough to make her grin with delight, as simple as this automaton was it needed a name like anypony. Rivet's father looked at her "you made it, you name it" she looked at the stallion and thought for a minute. "Tinker Toy, I'll name him Tinker Toy" Rivet currently lives in Canterlot as a local Clockwork mechanic, Tinker Toy was upgraded over time with both Rivet's exceptional skills to make him more lifelike and unicorn magic to give him a little personality.
