Personality: In Swahili Safiri means 'Journey' and it suits Safiri perfectly because she's very wanderlust and is always on the move, wandering to different places and kingdoms. Safiri is warm and caring, and is kind to everypony she meets despite the differences in species. She used to ponies being wary of her because of her looks and always tries to soothe the tension on first meeting. She's great listener as she takes everything in. Safiri is quite dignified but has a playful, teasing streak that shows when she's talking to foals. Safiri is quite sensitive and cries easily, she puts to much stress over herself because of her task and gets quite sorrowful at times. Okapis are naturally solitary and shy and Safiri is no different, and because of this she prefers travelling alone. Safiri is a natural-born storyteller and she tells stories with such preciseness its almost like your there with her as she tells her stories.
Backstory: Not much is known about Safiri's fillyhood. She doesn't really tell as she likes to keep her status a secret. Safiri was born in Zebrica to a tribe of Okapis, a rare species in Zebrica compared to that of the Zebras and Antelopes, her birth was especially special too because she was a princess.

The first years of her life were wonderful and would be looked fondly upon by Safiri in years to come. Safiri was a expectational storyteller and would entertain the only four Okapi calfs for hours with her yarns.

Since Okapis are a shy species, they find it hard to talk to other species and can't establish trade because of their accursed shyness, so their numbers are dwindling.

The Okapis know that they need to learn to talk with other species but they don't know how? So Princess Safiri has took it upon herself to wander Equestria, mixing with other specie and learning their behaviours. Safiri is very dedicated to her duty and is emotionally involved in her task as she views it as her saving the Okapis.
