• Silver Shield

    legionbrony

    • Age: Depends on the story. Usually appears between 20 and 30.

      Gender: Male

      Species: Unicorn

Appearance: His cutie mark is a silver kite shield. (Not in picture, will be remedied soon)

Silver is smaller than most of the Royal Guard by about half a head; he is only slightly larger than one of the mane 6.

Cutie Mark: His cutie mark, a silver kite shield, represents his talent for protecting ponies, either with his fairly strong combat magic, or with his specialty, magical shielding. (Force walls, force fields, personal shields, etc)

Personality: Very serious, especially about his job and his talent. He does not like violence, but he knows he must use it sometimes, because sometimes there is no other way to protect somepony.

He rarely laughs or shows emotion, unless he is around Princess Celestia, with whom he has grown quite close. She often requests that he be assigned to her throne room, so they can chat.

When not around the Princess, he is grim-faced and seems to have no sense of humor, though if you pay close enough attention he will use subtle situational irony to make a playful jab at somepony occasionally, his tone of voice giving no hint that it was a joke.

He is extremely passionate about protecting the citizens of Equestria, even the bad ones. He shares Celestia's belief that anypony can change, and therefore everypony deserves a second, or third, or fourth chance. Sometimes this belief is challenged by an especially awful pony, but he rarely shoots to kill, so to speak.

Silver is part of a special division of the guard, led by Commander Spell Weaver and comprised of 10 unicorns, that fight against high priority threats, usually magical in nature. They are Princess Celestia's personal task force across Equestria.

Backstory: Silver grew up in a noble unicorn family in Canterlot, and he hated it. He hated the mindless chatter of social gatherings, he hated the political games between families, he hated the low moral standards that so many of the ponies his parents associated with seemed to have.

He had always enjoyed magic, especially force fields. He found them useful for keeping ponies out of his study room, or whatever room he was in. Perhaps this also reflects onto his personality, as he is a very guarded pony emotionally.

Anyhow, the moment he was of age, he applied for the Royal Guard and was accepted, much to his parents' dismay. They could not believe he would willingly abandon a life of luxury for barbaric combat, but Silver felt nothing but freedom. He didn't care much for money, he only bought what he needed and nothing more. He was happy in the royal guard, who had great use for his shielding spells in containing threats without harming them, or keeping guards or other ponies safe from threats.

Eventually he rose up into the higher ranks, and one day when the guard was fighting off a creature that had escaped Tartarus, Celestia witnessed Silver in action, professional, calm, and skillful, she asked him after the fact if he would join Spell Weaver's force. It was mostly luck, since a position had just opened up a few days ago and Celestia somehow managed to pick him out of all the guards present, who in Silver's opinion had all done a very good job. But he readily accepted.

After years serving in this force, he has become more jaded, more suspicious, and more skilled. He retained his serious demeanor, except when the Princess is involved. One of Spell Weaver's guard is to be assigned to the princess at all times, and usually it is Silver.

He would, truthfully, prefer to be elsewhere if it were not for the fact that he loved to converse with Celestia. He did not like the throne room, as it was often full of nobility and politics that he hated so much. He wanted to be out in Equestria, defending ponies' lives. But he knew the rest of his team was more capable than him, as he was the newest member, and so he remained at the Princess' side, and the two grew a special bond.
