• Silverlight

    FractalMoon
    • Age: 24

      Gender: Female

      Species: Non-Pony

Appearance: When she is not wearing a nanotech disguise, Silverlight wears her brown hair short and has dull blue-grey eyes. She is moderately tall, and her usual outfit consists of a plain pale red t-shirt and faded blue jeans. Most of the time she carries a trail backpack that holds her equipment.

Personality: Silverlight tries not to let her emotions get to her, but loses her temper at times. She approaches every problem with enthusiasm, but this enthusiasm can quickly become nervousness or anger if the problem turns out to be more complicated than her initial assessment finds. This enthusiasm doesn't extend to her personal life, where she tries to avoid talking to people as much as possible, and quickly becomes uncomfortable whenever she is forced into a social situation. As a contractor she tries not to become involved with the actions of one of her clients, but she'll work for anyone who pays enough, whether on the side of good or bad. However, if someone asks her to do something she considers immoral she will usually turn on them, and at least terminate her contract.

Backstory: Sara Armstrong, later known as "Silverlight" was once a gifted prodigy of an engineer specializing in the design and creation of nanotechnology in order to treat illnesses that many previously thought to be incurable. After years and years of exhaustive research and development all led to failure, she found herself facing a demanding board of financiers who found no merit in her work. Fuelled by her frustration and desperation to succeed, she worked for days without eating or sleeping. Powered by a single-minded desire she threw what money she had into a far more expensive prototype than anything she had tried before and activated them without testing whether they were stable or not. The resulting power surge caused her lab to be badly damaged and rendered her unconscious for a full day. By the time she came to the building had burned to the ground, destroying her data, but she found herself completely unharmed due to an armor formed from the nanites around her, which had sensed a human in danger and bonded to her. To her surprise, the nanites were successful, far more than she could have possibly imagined during her experiment. Not only had the nanites bonded with her and protected her from something she believed they had no business helping her survive, but they had linked to her mind, allowing her to control them with her thoughts.

Filled with delight from her success, she immediately went to her financiers once again to tell them of what had happened, but found that they had no market for a product so expensive. Frustrated with the world she returned home, only to find that when she was fired all her accounts had been frozen. Penniless and jobless, she sulked in frustration for a few days before she decided to turn to making people who wronged her. After modifying and upgrading the nanobots that were now a part of her to be able to harm, she attacked and burned the building to the ground before running from the resulting police response. Taking the moniker of “Silverlight”, she began to work as a freelance hacker and criminal engineer, plotting and planning for anyone who would pay. For the most part her morality stays fluid, and though she sometimes feels bad about what she does, she makes a point to never question the motives of those who contract her unless they ask her to take part in the actual crime itself.
