Appearance: A fully armored lunarian guard, decked out in silver gear, she keeps a spear strapped to her back. The blade is flat and curved, made more for slashing than for stabbing. Her eyes are the same grey as thick ice, and her coat is the dark purple right before midnight. Her mane and tail are just a bit darker. She has a silver crescent moon amulet. Her right fore-hoof is encircled in a ring of runes, appearing at birth.
Cutie Mark: A moon with a dark outline, symbolizing her divebomb technique, and small bursts of night magic.
Personality: She generally keeps to herself. It's not that she doesn't want or like friends, it's that she doesn't make them well. She's loyal, but she holds her suties to Luna before most eveeyrhing else.
Backstory: Born on the winter solstice, under the sign of the shadow, a white mare and a light-grey stallion, both unicorns, produced one dark-coated filly Pegasus. <br /><br />It was on this night that the father of this child left, never to return. He was the captain of a fishing boat, and all he ever saw of her daughter was one lonely, torn photograph nearly 18 years later, in the honors and gear of a Lunar Guard. A photo he still holds.<br /><br />The mother of this child gasped her last breath in the labor, barely sucking in enough to get one glimpse of her child before passing away into the nethers, only just barely uttering out, "I name you Solstice." As this breath left, Solstice's hoof glew with a ring of runes, later translated as her name, and the longest night of the year; the Snow Solstice, or winter solstice. <br /><br />In the years folowing, she was assigned foster family after foster family, shunned, forgotten, or bullied against. She grew as icy as the day she was born, and thrust herself away from the system. She ran away, but not in the way most would expect. She flew down to Canterlot and landed on Luna's balcony. It was not a moment of clear thought, but it was what she did.<br /><br />She knocked on the doors, and was shocked when Luna opened it. The princess drowsily looked down upon her, and the filly felt something new. She felt at home. <br /><br />Luna smiled at the foal, asking "Well, it's rather late for a filly such as yourself. What brings you here, little one?"<br /><br />"Princess Luna, I want to become a Child of the Night."
