Although she doesn't like crowds off skates, hearing the crowd roar her name when she's on the track is what she lives for.
Competitive, confident and aggressive on the track, she is one pony you do not want to be up against one on one!

Off skates, she keeps to herself. But when she's with friends or her roller derby family, she's funny, quirky and big party pony who loves her cider!

Roller Derby is her life. Talk about the things she knows and loves and she could talk for hours on end!
Say something stupid or just plain offensive, she won't say much about it. But she will quietly, yet politely take her leave.

Backstory: TL;DR - Bullied as a filly for so many years, until one day she snapped and got suspended for getting into a fight with her bullies. When suspended, she came across the Manehatten Roller Derby team try-outs in her home down where she discovered her special talent in being a speed demon on skated. After years of training along side the Manehatten Team, she's now the new captain in the ever expanding team.

Growing up, Star Jammer was quite awkward and defensive. This was due to her inability to control her competitive streak around the other fillies. At a very young age, Star Jammer often played with colts instead of the fillies because she preferred the more boisterous way they played. No pony thought twice about it until Secondary School.
As she started to mature, she still preferred the company of the colts because she found she had more in common with them then the fillies. Some of the fillies saw this and found it strange, and warranted it as a reason to tease and bully her.
When it came to gym class, Star Jammer was the most competitive and most aggressive of players. It scared some of the fillies. They refereed to her as a 'mindless beast'.
When these fillies approached and harassed Star Jammer whilst she was with her colt friends, her colt friends would never say anything to them. They would stick up for her or speak up against the fillies in anyway. They just stayed quiet and let it happen. Once they were gone, they would all have something to say about them.
But one day, they didn't bash the bullying fillies. They started questions Star Jammer instead..

By the time it got to High School, what the fillies had been saying to her and her waning friendship with her colts friends began to toll on her. Her colt 'friends' started to tease her, taking the side of the fillies because they didn't want to be seen as weak or a loser in the eyes of their peers.
One day, Star Jammer snapped. Screaming at them all. Calling out their abuse and their cowardice. But, despite her effort, they all just laughed her down. So, she charged..

Memory of the fight is fuzzy. Although Star had some scrapes and bruises, she was physically fine. But her feelings were hurt. She hadn't a friend in the world. She tried to find solace in the fact that she came out better then most of the other fillies considering it was at least three to one. There may have been more of them involved if they hadn't of run away.
The worst of all the bullies was the one she targeted more over the others. She ended up with a broken nose!
'Probably would have been worse if her two friends weren't there to force me away..' she thought looking at her bruised forelegs. Despite her trying, she didn't feel good about what happened. She felt ashamed for letting herself be seen exploding like that by them. It'll just give them more to throw at her later.
The principle obviously did get involved. But to Star's dismay, she was the one being punish. "The others were let off with warnings. But you.. They said you attacked them out of the blue!"
"That's not fair! They've been picking on me for years!"
"But you attacked them. You made it a physical fight. You shouldn't have paid them any mind, or told a teacher!"
"I have done. Over and over and nothing changes! The teachers do nothing!"

The exchanged became heated, which resulted in Star's suspension. She didn't care at the time though. She just wanted to get out of their.

Arguments later with her parents, Star stayed in her room, reading her Daring Do books. She admire how Daring Do was courageous and strong, not relying on any pony else. Star wanted to be a pony like Daring Do.
Days in to her suspension, she managed to get back on speaking terms with her parents, which made her feel more welcome to wander about the house rather then residing in her bedroom. Whilst sitting in the living room reading her books and listening to music, she caught a glimpses of the TV that was on in the background. Her mother was watching the local news channel and there was a presenter talking to a pony who was wearing a purple and lime green helmet, knee pads and what looked like war paint! Star took off her headphones and listened in.
"So you're the captain of the Manehatten team?" The presenter enquired.
"Yes I am. My names Misty Rain, but my girls here call me 'Misty Pain'." - Misty said with a smirk. She was a pale blue pegasus with a white mane and tail with a rain cloud cutie mark. She had black streaks down her face, which was war paint for games, and her tail was wrapped up and her winger were bound and padded for protection.
In the background there was a group of six ponies in a wall skating around the track, stopping another pony with a star on her helmet from getting past them. In the centre of the track, there was a pony without any skates with a whistle, shouting at the ponies on the track. 'Keep it together! Don't let her through! Watch the inside line, Flutter!'
"And why do they call you that?"
"Well, in roller derby, all skaters have a roller derby name, which is kind of an alter-ego when we're in a game."
"So why 'Misty Pain'?"
"It's a play on my actual name. Kind of half-assed, but it works." She chuckled.
"So is roller derby a dangerous game?"
"It can be. It's a full contact sport on skates."
"That does sound dangerous!"
"Oh, it is! But we do our best to teach new skaters how to stay safe in regards to falls and skating around each other."
"And, how long are you going to be recruiting here in Bridleton?"
"Just a couple of days. We have more towns to go to so if anyone of you back home are interested to know what we're about, come down and see us at-"
The TV was switched off. Star's mother stretched and started to walk out of the room. Star, pounced on the controller. The TV switched on. There was the weather pony in front of the green screen, reporting on the up coming rainstorm the pegasi were bring their way. Star stared blankly at the TV. Something about roller derby spoke to her. They didn't look like normal athletes, she though. She switched the TV off and went back to her book. But several pages further, she hadn't registered a single page. Roller Derby was all she could think about. What was it?

The next day, Star was walking home after doing some grocery shopping for her mother. She was half way home when she heard a whistle blast echoing from one of the old warehouses. As she head to wards the sound, she heard rumbling getting louder and louder as she got closer. Over the rumbling she could hear shouting, coaching. As she reached the open door, there was another whistle blast. Star jumped and ducked behind the door.
"Alright, grab some water! Take 5!"
It was the roller derby ponies that She had saw on TV the day before!
She saw the coach pony stepping out from the centre of the track towards Misty Rain, who wasn't wearing her helmet, pads or wraps. Instead, she had a bandage around her stomach, supporting her injured wing.
"How's the wing, Mist?" The coach asked? He was a burly stallion with a scruffy beard with a deep gravely voice. Bay in colouration and checkered flag and whistle cutie mark.
"Eh, it's fine." She winced. "Twinges now and then. How're the Bridleton ponies shaping up?"
"No real candidates that we've seen yet, but it is still too early to tell. Their eager, I'll give them that. But you don't have that fire we're looking for."
"Any seem like their willing to travel with us?"
"Nah.. They seem home bound."
"Shame. I had a feeling about Bridleton. Though we'd find a real skater."
Star peeked her head around the timidly, looking at all the skaters sat down, joking around and rough housing.
The coach spotted her and brought his whistle to his lips.
"Don't look now, but we have a young mare at our door.." He said. Misty turned her head and saw Star, who was completely oblivious to the fact she had been spotted.
The coach blew the whistle and bellowed at the skater ponies. "Alright! On track!"
Star snapped to attention the coach, and saw that Misty was look at her curiously. She didn't move. She didn't know what to do.
"Hey! Newbie! Come over here!" Misty called to her.
Star didn't move for a second, but then slowly plodded over a little anxious. Her head slightly lowered, she approached Misty, who was stood tall and proud.
"So you want to be a skater, kid? What's your name?" Misty asked with a smirk.
"S-Star.."
"Staaar...?"
"Jammer."
"Really? Damn.. You were born with a name for roller derby!" Misty said excitedly. "You ever worn skates before?"
Star shook her head.
"well then! better fix that!" Misty lifted Star's saddle bag off her back and placed it against the wall. She then trotted over to a worn looking trunk, filled with old, ragged looking skates. She glanced over at Star, taking in her size. "Kinda small.." The quietly muttered to herself, rummaging through the trunk. "Aha!" She exclaimed, as she yanked out a small pair of roller skates with neon pink laces and mismatched wheels. She closed the trunk and beckoned Star over.
"Sit here." She tapped the trunk. Star jumped up onto the trunk and sat down obediently.
"Gimme your hooves." Obeying, Star held out her hooves awkwardly. Misty shoved the skates onto her hooves and began tying the laces.
"Did you hear about us from a friend?" Misty asked without looking at Star.
"N-no. I saw you on T.V and happened to walk by today." Star stuttered nervously.
"Ah cool! Well we're happy to have you here! There. Try standing on these." She backed away to give Star some room.
Star placed each hoof on the ground timidly, she wobbled a little but became stable quickly.
"Well, that's a good start. Try moving."
Star tried to shuffle but her forelegs went out from underneath her. Her back legs then followed and she fell flat with a thud!
"Ooh! You okay?" Misty asked. She helped Star back up and stood a little ways in front of her.
"Look at the guys on track. See how their pushing their legs out a bit? Try that."
Star hesitated but tried it with her back leg. She moved an inch or two forward. She tried again with the other. Again she moved forward. She looked at the ponies on track and studied how they moved. She tried to mimic them. It was very slow at first. But like foal taking its first few steps, she was shaky, but she was getting the hand of it quickly. Soon, she was moving at a reasonable speed back and forth beside the track.
"Well look at that.." Misty muttered to herself. "You're doing really well for someone who's never been on skates before!" She paused and looked at the track. "Maybe.." She turned her attention to Star and looked at her blank flank. She had an idea.
Star felt a strange sense of fulfilment skating. A new sort of happiness built up inside of her, until Misty called to her, "Hey Newbie! Get on track!"
Star froze and looked at Misty in disbelief. Misty laughed and cocked her head towards the track, beckoning to her. Star reluctantly skated over and stepped onto the track. The surface was far more slippery then the warehouse floor. It was smoother. Upon stepping onto it, Star almost fell down again. Misty whistled at the coach. He turned and saw Star on the track. He blew his whistle and told the other skates to grab some more water. He walked off the track and stood beside Misty.
"What're you doing?" He asked Misty.
"Just trust me." Misty whispered back.
"Newbie.. er.. Star! Do a lap. Get a feel for the track."
Star slowly pushed off. Shaky at first, adjusting to the new floor, but she soon picking up the pace.
Misty looked over at the coach with a smirk, but the coach was fixated on Star, who was slowly getting faster and faster. His face remained stern as he spoke.
"What am I looking at here, Mist?"
Misty Rain looked back at Star, who was gaining more speed. Star was feeling a rush of excitement. Getting faster and faster, feeling wind flicking her mane back, her tail flapping behind her. She loved this. This speed.
"Damage! Slain! Take position on track and stay put!" Misty called. Two skater ponies jumped up and stood in two separate place on track opposite Star's position. Star looked around and saw the two ponies in her way on track. Her excitement was quickly replaced with dread as she quickly met them on track. She couldn't stop. She was going to fast! Without thinking she shifted her weight and slalomed in between the two ponies. She couldn't believe she managed it. She couldn't understand how she just managed it. Without thinking, her body knew what to do!
"Blocker! Slamdiago! On track!" Misty called again. Two more ponies jumped up and took a point. Star saw them come up and with a new wave of confidence, she narrowed here eyes and breezed past them all.
"Try and stop her!" Misty shouted. She glared in Star's direction, who was mimicking the same expression. A new emotion took over Star. Determination. As the ponies lined to stop her, she smirked and picked up speed. She got closer and closer, faster and faster. Her heart was racing, her legs were pumping but then just a few feet away from the pack of ponies, it all washed away. The ponies towered over her. She freaked out. As these huge hulking ponies swerved to get in her way, she swerved the other way and got half way through the group. Out of nowhere, a monster of a pony swept in, attempting to smash Star of track. But without hesitation, Star ducked and weaved away, causing the huge pony to fall and trip up one of their team mates. There were only two left. Star tried to shove past them but she became trapped as the other two ponies slammed into her sides. Winding her. Her legs almost collapsed but she wouldn't let them. She remembered a chapter of Daring Do when she was trapped and attacked by treasure hunters. They all ganged up on her but she pulled through with determination and keeping her cool.
Star took a deep breathe. She shot a glare at each pony either side of her. She tried to shake herself loose of these ponies, but not enough to skate away. But she did have enough space to duck down and slam up into each pony. She brought herself up and dug her shoulder into the pony on the rights belly. This took him by surprise and he stumbled away, but still gave chase. The other pony was still shoving Star, slamming into her over and over. She didn't give up. This pony was towering over her but she didn't care. She bounced off of him and ducked and brought herself up, slamming into his shoulder, but it had no effect. He knew it was coming. The two wrestled against each other around the track, Star was putting up a great fight but she was quickly becoming fatigued. Her leg waned and she fell a little. The huge pony saw this as an opportunity and went in to take her down. Star saw him and ducked, catching her balance again. The huge pony didn't expect this, and stumbled trying to regain his own balance. But before he could Star shot up, slammed up into his side and he fell. She pushed off with a burst of speed to get away before he could get up. But as she came around the apex, the ponies were off track and instead she heard a symphony of cheers. She looked at the skaters on the side. They were all slamming their hooves on the ground and cheering at her. 'Well done, Newbie!', 'That was sick!', 'Awesome, Newbie!'. Star came to a halt and looked at Misty. She was smiling like a proud mother looking directly at her. A grin spread across Star Jammer's. This is what she wanted to do. This is what she was born to do!
A flash of light startled everyone. The cheering stopped as they all covered their eyes, blinded by the light. Wincing, Star tried to look for the source. She found it was coming from her flank! The light faded, and there on her flank was her brand new cutie mark! All the other ponies stared at her for a moment before rushing over to her with congratulations.
"Aw that's so cool!" One exclaimed.
"No wonder you were so good at this!" Another said.
Away from the commotion, Misty turned to the coach and said,
“Knew we'd find a real skater here..”. Her ever infamous smirk appeared yet again and the coach nodded with a chuckle before stepping up onto the track.
“Congrats, Newbie.” He said with a wink. He blew his whistle and everyone stood to attention. “Five laps! Go! Except you newbie. Go get yourself some water.”.

Star stepped of the tracked as Misty brought her over some water. She smiled as she placed it beside her. Star smiled back at her, before her legs gave way underneath her. She fell and looked up at Misty. They both began to laugh.
“I didn't realise just how much that took out of me!” Star chortled.

After that day, Star Jammer was invited to join the team in Manehatten where she'd train and play along side them in the future. Her parents weren't that keen on the idea, but once Star explain that's what she wanted, and that this is what her special talent was, they reluctantly agreed, and let her go to Manehatten.
Years later, Star Jammer is still there, and is now the captain of the Manehatten team. Misty Rain stepped down so she could start a family but still stops by the training sessions to see how Star is doing as Captain. The coach is still their. More grizzly then ever and the team has expanded significantly. The Manehatten team is building up a great reputation and with the experience they have and they amount of wins under their belt, their becoming one of the biggest teams in Equestrian Roller Derby.
