Appearance: A soft pink bat-pony, she has a long dark brown mane and tail. Her coat's fur is so fine, it almost looks like some sort of smooth skin-like substance, but it's merely how minky her coat has gotten, due to her change. Her pupils are a light blue color, and stand out dramatically from the indigo orbs they're set in. She also sports a very sharp pair of canine teeth
Cutie Mark: A pencil with a line.
Represent her hability of drawings.
Personality: Cold and distant, Pen isn't known for being very sociable (for obvious reasons). She tends to either give others an icy stare, or simply ignore them altogether. However, for those who have managed to get close to her, such as her few friends and loyal servants, she does hold a great capacity for personal warmth and affection.
Backstory: Pen was always a creative sort; she'd spent almost all of her time indoors, reading and writing and trying to learn as much as she could about the art of storytelling. She'd written a number of short stories, one or two longer missives, and had finished writing her first book before she'd gotten out of fillyhood!

Her attitude was reserved, and her manners were impeccable - she was everything a high class family like her own could ask for; she was the perfect little socialite.

Too bad her life never finished taking that path.

When her parents decided she needed to find herself a special somepony, they began screening potential suitors. Pen wasn't interested in anything of the sort - her heart was in her writing. Nevertheless, they insisted she have a number of outings with available (and well-to-do) bachelors.

One such suitor seemed to be everything any high society mare could ever hope for; rich, talented, charismatic... absolutely dashing. Yet somehow, Pen didn't quite feel at ease around him... but her parents were adamant; she was to go with him on at least ONE date before she would be allowed to send him on his way. So she agreed to it, assuming she'd simply glean over the date itself, and get home as soon as she could.

He had other plans.

To this day, she cannot recall all the details of that dreadful night... but there are pieces that flash through her mind, occasionally: His green eyes, piercing her very soul... fangs, white and sharp in the moonlight... wet, suckilng sounds... pain and misery like she'd never known before... and his laughter. His cruel, cold laughter as he departed from her cooling shell, and Pen thought herself done for.

But she wasn't to be so lucky.

Pen awoke to a voracious hunger, and set about preying on anything she could find; within an hour, many of the woodland creatures had run for the hills, fleeing the wake of her seemingly insatiable appetite. Once she'd fed enough, however, she instantly felt bad for the creatures, and headed home to try to sort out what all had happened.

One look at Sweet Pen's new face and form, and her parents balked; they panicked and chased her out of the house, out of the street, out of the entire town. Sweet Pen's family had rejected her cursed form; she sadly accepted this, and lost herself in the shadows of the night, vanishing into darkness.

She took up residence in a small hamlet of bat-ponies, known as Hollow Shades, and tried her best to piece together an existance out of what that horrible stallion had done to her. Though she seethed with anger and dreamed of her revenge, the vile stallion was never seen nor heard from ever again.

The bat-ponies of Hollow Shades treat her as one of their own, and she is considered a valuable and respected member of their village.
