Personality: Though not entirely humorless, years at sea and many battles have turned him into a hard commander and warrior. He spends almost all of his time at sea, but occasionally he'll visit his sister and mother in Canterlot. He is a brilliant tactician, though often weak in diplomacy. He is an expert shot with a pistol and a well know sword fighter.

Backstory: Swift Sail was born in Canterlot into a middle class family. At age 6 he began attending the Canterlot naval academy. At age 15, his father, a commander in the navy, was killed in action against a pirate vessel. With the money his family had left over they bought him a commission in the Equestrian Navy as a midshipman aboard the HMS Butterfly, a 16 gun sloop of war. 4 years later he was transferred to a 34 gun frigate; HMS Tolerant. At age 23 he was promoted to acting lieutenant. He then passed the lieutenant examination and was transferred to the HMS Appleoosa; a 74 gun ship of the line. After 8 years of service aboard the Appleoosa and a promotion to commander, he took command of his own ship; the HMS Falcon. A 20 gun sloop of war. He was later promoted to post-captain, and given command of another 20 gun Sloop of War; TMS Resilient.
