Cutie Mark: The Three Gears represent Tap's aptitude to creation, more specifically Video Game Creation. It shows that he is the Engineer of what he creates, although he may not be directly seen, heard or appreciated he will still be there making things as amazingly as he can.

Personality: Tap is quick to run from a large crowd, but if he has to he'll still make conversation. He possesses high intelligence, which allows him to socialize effectively, however it also gives him an idea of superiority towards those who do not possess an IQ lower than his. He also can have problems with depression, however he still tries to make the most of what he can. On top of this, he has a problem with bullying, and his self image can easily be ruined.

Backstory: Tapfire grew up in Ponyville, but was born in Cloudsdale, to his mother, a Pegasus, and his father, a changeling. Yeah, that's an interesting one to bring up at school. Being half-changeling, he still possesses the powers of transforming, but with limitations. Firstly, he cannot change his gender beyond Male (No Female or otherwise), and secondly, he has trouble accurately recreate the personality of the pony he is transformed into- Something always seems a little... off. He also has holes in his hooves, legs, mane and tail, but hides them due to bullying in his early life, and doesn't ever show them. Despite this, he scored within the top marks all the way through school so far in his life, and remains an intelligent half-pony.
