Thunder Tinker
Age: Young Stallion
Gender: Male
Species: Unicorn
Appearance: Tinker is tall and somewhat leaner than average. His coat is azure white while his shaggy mane and ruffled short tail are a deep blue with platinum on their ends. His hooves looks like they are made of ivory. In contrast to his white coat and blue hair, he has golden eyes, seeming to spark with energy just waiting to be released.

His wings are similar to bats', with white frames and blue membranes. The pulley system is hidden inside the hollow frames. There is a metal box in between the wings, which hosts the controls for them inside and only unicorns can control it with magic, and the box is fastened to Tinker by a coat-matching white belt.

He also always wear a pair of goggles whenever he works on his projects or go flying. When not in used, he lets the goggles hang from his neck. The band is pure white, the goggles' frame is made from brass and the lens are grey tinted.
Cutie Mark: Tinker's cutie mark is a blueprint with an outline of a thunderbolt on it and a pencil on the side. It shows his gift in lightning magic and his interest in making new contraptions and devices.
Personality: Tinker is somewhat an introvert, not really active with trying to look out for new friends. But when he finds one, he treasures them like gold. He always put his friends above himself, caring for them more than for himself. This is why he takes mistakes that affect his friends harsher than the ones that only affect him.

Tinker is also very curious with technology and various devices, always being distracted by taking a good look at them. He can act pretty silly and goofy at times, occasionally embarrassing himself but he just laughs it off after.

Tinker can sometimes be a nitpicker, always pointing out the logical flaws and plot holes of movies, stories, ect. as they really annoy him whenever he spots one.

Not being much of an artistic minded unicorn, he often focuses on the functionality of his machines rather than their appearance. But when something is asymmetrical while they are not supposed to, his OCD might kick up and frustrate him.
Backstory: Tinker was born and raised in Canterlot, living well with the high standards of society there. At a young age, he showed that he was pretty good with his magic when compared to other unicorns at his age, especially with controlling lightning and electricity. He managed to enter Princess Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns by being able to keep a dozen light bulbs lit with purely his own magic in the entrance exam. Although he struggled quite a bit, but he was good enough to enter the School.

During his time there as a student, Tinker wasn't exactly using his gifts as he got a new interest: making various devices and gadgets. This, in addition with being a blank flank while his peers all had their cutie marks already, caused him to be teased and thus separated from the crowds. After having dug into various books and researches, as well as having some inspiration after having been watching the Wonderbolts shows, he started to work his first major project: artificial wings. He knew that this was near impossible, but he was determined to try.

Tinker eventually made a usable prototype after various failed ones, a pair of wings made from wood and sheets of cloth. They were flimsy, but at least they held together better than the previous prototypes. To test these, he had made a large cushion made of hay at the foot of a short cliff in the case of his wings failing and dropping him. Once on the cliff, he took a deep breath and gathered all of his courage, slowly stepping back to have a run-up. Another deep breath and then... He bolted to the cliff, using a strong levitation spell to keep the wings spread and let him control the wings slightly. He jumped at the end and...! He was gliding through the air! He smiled wide in joy as he drifted in mid-air with his wings, just content with being able to do so. HE knew better than to try to flap them and accidentally break them, making him fall onto the ground. After the short 'flight', he landed back down and packed his wings up into his bags giddily, galloping back to his home to tell his accomplishments to his parents...while temporarily forgetting that it might cause him some trouble. Luckily his parents weren't too mad at him, but rather quite interested in his crafts.

After that, Tinker put his wings crafting project on the back burner as he continued to study without ever getting a cutie mark. This didn't really bother him, his minding his own studies and projects. After a couple of years, he finally managed to create a new prototype, still made of wood and the shame kind of fabric but fully functional with a pulley system rigged on it. This system allowed Tinker to control the wins easier and with less energy. On a weekend, he decided to test what his new wings can do. But instead of gliding, he decided to try to take off from the ground. Taking a deep breath, he focused his magic on the triggers of the pulley system, ready to flap them as he jumped up into the air. He quickly flapped hard and maintained a steady rhythm, blinking as he was able to keep his altitude and even move around quite a bit. Slowly building his confidence up, he began to fly around. At this moment, his flanks began to glow as his cutie mark finally appeared! Tinker didn't really notice this until he had landed, almost squealing in glee when he noticed the new marks on his flanks. He immediately ran off to his parents again, now to show both his successful prototype and his cutie mark.

Unlike last time, he continued to improve his wings while still studying magic, even when he was near the final exams that could decide he could graduate or not. Soon enough, he passed his final exams and graduated from the School. Now having finished his education, he had talked with his parents for a while before deciding to move to Ponyville, prefering it to Canterlot due to it being more laid back and friendly than the marble city. It was at the small town where Tinker continued to improve his wings, finally getting his most satisfactory pair of wings yet. They were made of a light metal alloy instead of wood, the fabric for the membrane of his wings made from a light, but very durable material. He can fly with it now like a pegasus could, but as long as he doesn't fly and stop too fast, or turn a sharp corner at high speed.
